Topic: JBLPS quantity

My Parents bought me an amazing Gibson Les Pauls Studio the other week there and it says everywhere that they are being sold that they are limited and most shops are out of stock .

so does  anyone know how many JBLPS guitars where actually made or are they still in production ?
thanks.

Re: JBLPS quantity

Good Question.......I think they are still being made....maybe Customer service @ Gibson.com can answer that for you...

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: JBLPS quantity

It's not showing presently on the Gibson site but the Epi is. Maybe they can make more that way. Sad as I own the Epi myself, still a great guitar but i didn't buy it to collect dust and it's definitely a keeper.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: JBLPS quantity

American Musical Supply's website says they're expecting a new shipment of the Studio model in a little over a week:  http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-GIB-LPSJB-LIST.  zZounds says they'll have some about a week after that:  http://www.zzounds.com/item--GIBLPSJB. Musician's Friend's website is indicating they expect a new shipment in early May:  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ … 9000001000.  Same with Music123:  http://www.music123.com/Guitars/Electri … 001000.sku. Same Day Music also says they are expecting more "soon": http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--GIBLPSJB, as does Music Zoo:  http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/1091 … ic-Guitar/.  I don't think that many retailers would be claiming to expect more of this model if Gibson were no longer producing it...

Guitar Center is still showing the Studio as "In Stock":  http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Limi … 1774397.gc.  There's also a Studio up on eBay right now:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-LP-Studi … 3cc289a02d...

Stuart,

Congrats on the guitar - your parents did a GREAT thing for you by buying you such a nice instrument - so be a good boy when they ask you to take out the trash, got it?! smile

I don't get hung up on the "limited edition" thing anymore - every guitar I own is "one of one" and i love it for what it is - and you'll soon learn that "limited edition" is marketing hype that doesn't mean they're releasing only a small number.

Now go VOLUNTEER to take out the trash, kid! smile

That's the right answer - I still have the '85 strat my parents bought me at 16 and it isn't going anywhere.  Is it rare - sure - it's the only one - how many 'similar' ones did they make - I have no idea!

Re: JBLPS quantity

I thought the Studio was 600 pieces.  Can't find the original post to verify that.

Gibson 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue, Gibson LP Standard Faded CSB, Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard, Epi Joe Bonamassa GT LP, Epi Zakk Wylde LP, Dean Michael Schenker Flying V, Jackson Randy Rhoads V, ESP/LTD George Lynch Kamikaze, EVH Striped Series R/B/W, Fender/Squire John 5 Telecaster, Fender Joe Strummer Relic Telecaster

I thought it was supposed to be 300 customs, 500 studios and 1000 Epis. But the the Bonabursts came out before the studios, (and there are more of those appearing) as well as at least 1000 more Epis.  I don't think any of this will affect the collectability of any model with Joe's star rising.

I think it's great that anybody that wants to get one of Joe's models can get his or her hands on one. The Bonabursts, studios and Epis are all in the market now! And a custom shop gold top seems to appear frequently on the aftermarket.

That and a plea to J&R can get your axe broken in a bit by the man himself.

Now isn't that just fantastic? smile

Waiting patiently for a JB Korina Flying Vee here wink

Collect one - it's a musical instrument not a shares portfolio!  Really just do the homework and be sure it's what you want then it doesn't matter what it might be worth.

I don't look at mine as an investment. I look at it as my favorite guitar that already has gotten a lot of miles and shows under its belt. I look at it as a bond between my fiance and me, as she gave it to me. It's not an investment. It's a great part of my life. smile

Re: JBLPS quantity

The JBLPS was originally 1,200 worldwide (600 US). Joe then said in an interview (I believe. Not sure on the source actually, it could've even been on this forum even) that there was the option of Gibson increasing the number to 1,500 if it sold well. Obviously it sold very well (and continues to do so). When I met Joe back in October and he signed my JBLPS I asked if they had increased the maximum to 1,500 due to how successful it was and he said it had.

I don't know if they went even further than that, but they do seem to be still coming in everywhere!

They're awesome guitars, congratulations on getting one!
