Right guy's i just attended (with Maggie & Roger) a local Blues Festival near my hometown this last weekend.
and there were 3 days of activities all things Blues .... ie Folk/Blues bit of Delta and some Blues vocalists Etc,
plus some great sets from Roadhouse and Chantel McGregor who indeed rightly so heradlined the weekend and easily won the vote for set of the weekend, her soloing and performance was just incredible, She brought it and Rocked it.

But during the early rainy Satuday afternoon we were looking to dive into a pub and catch one of the free shows on offer, we decided on Paint it Blue, but at the pub they were like running 1 hour late and strill setting up?
well in weekend brochure i caught a name and a picture of a band i'd thought i'd check out, the photo was of a band named Snakewater 3 young tuff looking lads from Manchester quoted as saying playing Hard Driven Rock/Blues in the vein of Led Zeppelin, (my cuppa tea) so we ran in rain to that pub where we found 3 young guys just unpacking their cases, but lo and behold these guys had set up in within no lie in under 30 minutes, no soundcheck, no messing just going about their business quickly and quietly, and Then .....

Not since, and i have to say this since i first saw Joe Bonamassa Live in 2005, have i had the shizz rocked out of me and drop jawed to the floor and smile, have i seen a band (only Virgil comes to mind) Tear The Freakin' Place Up, they Rocked So Hard and Pure, right outta the blocks full force, with covers of Cream, Joe, BB King Eric Clapton and more, plus some of their own material off their soon to be released debut album.
It was like only reminiscent of that first time seeing Joe, such a brilliant tour de force of the fiercest Rock with Blues overtones, the band were just so tight, so so tight but raw as hell with energy levels so high.
The guitarist is a huge Joe Gary Rory fan and infact sounds vocally closest to Rory but with a ferocious gibson tone even in a pub, he's not the most technically brilliant soloist but infectious entertaining and Rocks so hard, his chops are huge, i mean huge, you can see the influences, The Bassist is just Incredible young fresh 6 stringed bass with a booming bass sound, and he just set up 30 minutes earlier, Roger will confirm, it is a one man power bass phenomenon, so clean and round in sound and very very quick multi-finger runs ... Wow
and the drummer is just that, relentless in the pocket hammering away perfectly, like a mini John Bonham absolutely huge, this band had all the local youngsters who were there not into Blues dancing and screaming at their enegy, the place was jumping at glowed my heart to see a young trio of men just letting it rip fun time.
All the covers were torn up ... Cocaine, Further On Up The Road, Bridge To Better Days, Stormy Monday, some Deep Purple and BluesBreakers plus Joe was well represented in their two 1 hour sets, everyone in the pub was going wild, i havnt seen a pub turned like that for years, they were totally brilliant and fearless. 10/10
got talking to 'em briefly afterwards and they were just fun smilin' Blues loving guys, didnt think they were special just love turning up and entertaining people, they love Joe big time especially the guitarist Bobby
Check 'em out guys, if you like your Blues like me (really on fire) and so fierce with the highest energy,
if Bobby could maybe get vocal lessons the could appeal to that wider audience, but they are like a frieght train and if you can catch em live do so, but be warned they are to me like Virgil and Joe so so entertaining and will leave you really wanting more
Here's a few vids i found .... Maggie has taped a few, but the audience were dancing everywhere LOL
Here is their site ... look through it you will find some interesting reading http://www.snakewater.co.uk/
especially the Guitarist Bobby
........... Michael
PS ,,, I forgot they actually played and set up all again in a pub across the road later and they promised to play The Ballad of John Henry for me, and they did bless 'em but the were drunk by then but still tore that place up too, the crowd were going crazy dancing to Joe tunes, great to see, they were really drunk but rockin to the end
pss the vids on Youtube they have are not high quality, but get Pete Maggie Tripsy on the trail and that will showcase their energy, as you can see lots of Joe songs covered, they love JB
