Topic: JB Signature Les Paul

Hey guys,

I've been saving up for a new guitar for a while now, and It's about that time to start narrowing down the search.

I've latched on to the idea of getting a JB Gibson Les Paul. I had the honor of seeing JB live in FL last November.....freakin' blew my mind!

Wanted to see what you guys thought about the guitar smile

Thanks!

There are a few 'JB Gibson Les Pauls' out there now...

* The original Gold Top (only 300 made)
* The 'Bonaburst' which is basically only available through Wildwood Guitars
* The LP Studio Gold Tops
* The Epiphone Gold Tops

There's also the 'rarer than a wooly mammoth' Candy Apple Blue LP's of which I think there are only 5 in existence... smile

And, as Jon said - there are rumours of a new model in the works.

They are certainly not easy guitars to find around the place, but occasionally the odd second hand one does pop up here, or on TGP or on eBay...

Good luck with finding one - they are great guitars, all of them.  Even better if you can take it to a meet and greet with Joe and get him to play it and sign it... cool

If you can find one of his goldtops aged or unaged you can't go wrong. But they are hard to come by.
Cheers welcome to Bonamassa Land

Thanks for the info!

I think it's the Gibson Les Paul Studio one I'm looking at here:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ … 9000001000

I'd actually buy it from one of my local dealers and have them ship it to the store before I commit to the purchase....it's still surprising to me that people buy guitars onine without playing them lol. (MF normally has the best pics)

Anyway, this look correct to you?? The way you talked it was like they were out of production.....?

Re: JB Signature Les Paul

Can't go wrong with a JB Studio. They're very good guitars.

I wouldn't trade my JB Studio for anything.

Yes, that's the Studio.  I played one recently at a Gibson dealer here in Oz.  Very very nice guitar!

The Studio's and Epiphone JB's are still in production, but at the tail end.  They may do another run of the Epiphones, but I believe that the Studios are pretty much at end of production, so they will get rarer from here on in.

The other orignal Gold Tops are well out of production, difficult to find, and expensive when you do.  The Bonabursts are also technically our of production, but we tend to see Wildwood announce small batches of them every now and then.  They have presumable hoarded some of the original batch and are releasing them in small doses I believe.

Tip: When your store gets the JBLP Studio in - make sure they call you so you can be first to try it out.  I daresay if someone else gets to it first, it will go before you get the chance to play it! smile

Re: JB Signature Les Paul

The new flame top JB guitars are available at Wildwood.

The price has definitely gone up over the plain top Bonabursts but I would think that they are great guitars.

The JB studios are wonderful as well.

Awesome. Thanks so much for the help and advice everyone!!!

I really appriciate it. I'm trying to sell one of my amp heads to give me enough money to get the JB studio. Got a few leads, will let you guys know smile Really hope I can get the JB studio soon, lots of gigs coming up and would love to break out a JB signature!

Not only is Joe Bonamassa very professional and polite, but I'm seeing that so are his fans smile Thanks again guys you're all awesome!

Re: JB Signature Les Paul

Hello,

Glad that you are looking at the JB Les Paul Studio.

I chose to go with the Epiphone JB.  Ordered it a couple days ago and it will be in next week.  I chose it for a couple reasons.

1.  Didn't have the $$$$ to spend on the Gibson model, or the Gibson Studio.  Found out that most everything is the same.  ie... same pickups, same tuners. and a few other things.

2.  The Epi version has the cream binding on the neck and the body.  The Studio doesn't. I know that it's a personal preference, but I liked the binding.

Either way, there all guitars that have the input of our favorite guitar player.  So, enjoy!!

They rearranged their site structure a little bit recently, Gibson Custom Shop guitars are now listed in their own category. Here is the link for Artist inventory: http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electric … artist.htm

Re: JB Signature Les Paul

Ron, I think BluesRockAddict is basically referring to the 'Bonaburst' guitars, but with a flame top...  Not an entirely NEW sig model per se...

Ron,

They are the JB Bonaburst style but with the flamey top.  I think Joe mentioned them on Facebook a week or so ago.

Wildwood -> Electrics -> Gibson Custom -> Artist

There are a few left; they had approximately 20 a couple of weeks ago.
