Re: DSL and Jubilee tonal differences

There is no tonal difference between a combo and a head/cab (assuming the same speakers). Closed vs. open-backed cabinet will have some difference in bottom end.

thanks!!

Re: DSL and Jubilee tonal differences

i personally feel the Jubs are a very good head, but not worth half the money that they are changing hands for at present......but everyone has a chosen sound/tone in their head that they're chasing(me included) and i'm more than happy with my DSL 100 and for about 30% of the price of a Jub....i'm having some mods done to mine atm which i'm hoping will only add to my tone........btw when comparing these two very good Marshalls which channel is being judged? as i only ever use the 'crunch' (green channel)

Hi, I have a question I hope you don't mind

I usually run my DSL with on the CLEAN channel with 2 overdrive pedals (one of which is a TS808) ... this is for my overdriven tone. I've never experimented with this but what would be the difference if I used my amp to get most of the gain (So i'd be on the green channel) and then used the OD pedals to boost it?

Thanks

Try it and find out! If you go to the red channel on your DSL and then try and deploy your 808, you'll have to readjust the pedal probably. Using the pedal for this type of application is better if you're just going to use the 808 for a solo boost, NOT leaving it on all the time. -S

Re: DSL and Jubilee tonal differences

I wish I could even have a DSL, my Peavey Windsor sucks ****!!

Re: DSL and Jubilee tonal differences

hi, Jlowther
using the crunch (green)will give you a nice balance with your overdrive pedal, i use a Boss BD2 and it mixes really well,by setting your gain too 1 o'clock on your DSL, your overdrive wiil mix very well and try using your your guitar volume for different tones its very simple but affective i feel......and theres alot more volume/headroom with the crunch channel...hope this helps, btw the DSL 401 and the DSL 100 are very different beasts in my opinion!!
