The thing with her is that she's very much a local girl 'made good', which means that she's infinitely more popular in the Greater London area than anywhere else. Sure, she's talented, has a nice voice, and people like that she's a bit of a potty mouth on stage, but that's about the extent of it. Typical Grammy stuff, of no interest to people with a desire for real music.

I'll back you Brack. I think Adele is unique and very talented. So glad her voice has returned after surgery and I hope she stays well. She deserved the wins.   Cathy

Newer fan here with 21 and my brother Conrad insisting that I check her out!  She was the most talented of everyone up for a Grammy last night.  What a voice!!  I saw a small part of an interview with Anderson Cooper, I want to watch the whole thing, but I loved when he said Adele is like the anti-pop, even though she's popular, she's atypical!  Now, this is just my interpretation, and I didn't hear the whole thing, but my thinking is: she's a HUGE talent (so much pop today doesn't equal talent) and she's not girating, thrusting, starving herself or taking her clothes off or having clothing malfunctions.   When she speaks fast I can't totally understand her Brit accent, but she's funny and I like her humor.  About the old boyfriend...ha...its funny how one grows from a broken heart...Adele's Plan B was sweet revenge and very therapeutic!

I didn't know about the smoking & drinking part, I hope she can overcome that.  I didn't know until about a year ago that drinking was even a down side of a cancer risk let alone add the smoking.  As far as alcohol, everything in moderation.  I remember reading about Robert Palmer RIP being a smoker and how he felt it benefited his voice...

I'm not passing judgment on smokers, my good friend who is only 52 is addicted, she's been hypnotized and quit twice for over 3 years...stress brings her back to cigarettes...when she quits, she misses it everyday, she craves it.  I wish I knew what I could do to help her. I just went to her second sister's (58) viewing Friday night, her other sister battled lung cancer for 6 years, she died a year ago.

Anyway, I wish Adele continued success and good health.  21 will be a tough act to follow.  I would love to see her perform live.

Gotta disagree with ya here G Dawg, she's taken the U.S. by storm in the past year in sales and radio play. She appeals to a broad audience as well. It wouldn't surprise me if Brack did name his poodle Adele....sorry Brackster, lol! I enjoyed her performance last night and wondered if she was throttling back on her vocals maybe on her doctors recommendation. The CBS affiliate in SF ran a report on the Dr. that did her laser surgery.
