Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

Hey guys I'm new to torrents and have a quick question. I downloaded
one show and everything came out perfectly fine as a "shn" file and I
can listen to it. Now for some reason whenever I download a file it
comes out in "yahoo! music engine file" format. Does anybody know what
I did and how to fix it?. Thanks, Derek.

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

I got signed up at DIMEADOZEN. I "downloaded" a JB show. It put a small torrent file, in My Documents. But, I don't know what to do next. How do I get the show to play? Did I actually download the show, or just some kind of "bookmark"? I read some of the FAQs, etc. But, I still don't have any idea what I'm doing. Do I need to download and install more software?

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

Here is a previous post by me on this subject which may answer your questions (but probably will just create more unanswered ones):

Rhonda:  I first discovered BitTorrent filesharing about 2 years ago thanks to a taper from the Joe B. board...it can be sort of a frustrating process to get started but well worth it once you do.

There are at least two things you'll need:  A BitTorrent (BT) client (I use Azureus: http://www.getazureus.com/) to download the files using the peer-to-peer connections; and a FLAC Decoder (I've used FLAC Frontend with many problems, and DBPoweramp: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm) with much success. All of these programs are free.  You pretty much have to have a broadband internet connection too or else it will be a frustratingly slow process.  Unless you already have a BitTorrent client, the file you downloaded is the torrent file itself, not the actual files.  The torrent file is just sort of like a menu or a direction to the actual files.

Once you install the BT client, you'll be able to download the actual files, assuming there's still at least a few people that are sharing them...the more sharers, the faster you can download as you connect to each one.  Once they're downloaded, you will need to convert the FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files to a .wav file or at least an mp3 file for you to burn them, for which you can use DBPoweramp.  WinAmp has a plug-in you can download that will allow you to listen to them but I usually burn and delete.

It's a bit of up-front effort, but I've found some really great stuff, Joe & otherwise, on the filesharing sites.  If you want to drop me an email if you need some help getting started, feel free to e me at CarlJ at Aaaay Ohhhh Elllll dot com.  I'm no expert and there's plenty of good sites that will tell you what you need to know if you look around.  Just Google "bit torrent" and surf a bit.

Good luck!

Carl

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

THANKS! That's the clearest explanation I've heard yet.

I've installed Azureus, and am currently downloading a JB show! I'll report back, as everything progresses.

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

Budda:  Glad to be of help.  FYI, if you download the latest version of WinAmp (5 I think) it has a plug-in to play FLAC and/or SHN (Shorten) files without having to decode to .wav and Nero apparently will burn FLAC files without decoding also.  Let us know how it turns out.  Timing is everything with the BitTorrent files, because if there aren't a lot of seeds (completed peers) the download can be agonizingly slow....but often worth the wait.

Keep us posted.

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

Only saw one support: Stone River Thingy - seen them before. They remind of a six form band from the 1970s trying to do Rush or some such tosh. JB was great, even better than last year's Borderline gig. The sound was very good by the Bush's crap standards. What an awsome drum solo! FIVE STARS!!!! :-)

PS. Note to the venue: raise the friggin stage!

My first attempt at creating a torrent, hope I did everything correctly. If anyone has any problems with it, let me know and I'll try to correct it.

My joklahoma location has nothing to do with Joe, it's how I've referred to this state's politics for years;
get rid of the politicians and their "good ole boy" network and it's a very nice place to call home (or would that be Jome?)

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

DIME just wants some video attributes to be included in the description.  The ban will be lifted when the seeder provides the necessary information.  Check back tomorrow I suppose.

What does that mean, this is showing as banned?  Personally, I haven't gotten into the master torrent thing as yet.
