Always liked Kenny but always thought he was missing something..soul to his playing...Stevie Ray had it...Now Joe does...Joe blows Kenny off the stage...Joe blows everyone off the stage.I have seen them all over 30 years...Joe is the best and a super guy to boot

i like kenny wayne, alot, but has hasn't done much since releasing the place you're in, i saw him on tour last summer with joe and bb king and he did nothing from the new album, which was fine because i really didn't like the album much, but kws blew the roof off of pine knob he played like he was possesed and joe got play for less than a half hour

but there was all the talk of kws releasing his most bluesy album he's ever done, what happened? where is it? he said on his website that it was done at the time of the place you're in and it was going to be released around november of last year

I did like KWS too... at least his three Bluesrock records, which I still
listen pretty often...

But what he did with the latest is absolutely not my stuff... Sorry.
So I let him go... and may return if he returns to his Bluesrock thing.

Joe is for me my today's hero beside Eric Clapton.

Kenny is releasing a new CD. it's called 'Ten Days Out: Blues From the Backroads' and it's  a blues/rock record. Thats the info that I got from Kenny's dad.  and along with the cd is going to be a new DVD.

cool....blues rock is great...I like the new CD but then I like Lenny Kravitz...I hope the new CD/DVD will be blues rock oriented tho....KWS is great don't get me wrong but since I found Joe all others seem a step down...Kenny also can't sing the blues like Joe..

Hi All,

This is my first post-excited to be around a bunch of Bonamassa/Shepherd fans.  Let me say I just saw Joe during his two show stint in Crystal Lake back in May-simply unbelievable.  I even bought a copy of "You and Me" at the show-a month before it came out.  Asking Around For You during the show gave everyone shivers. It was quiet and more subtle than on the album-probably because there were no strings.

Now on to the KWS topic.

At the Bonamassa show I noticed two interesting things: 1)KWS' drummer for The Place Your In Tour, Bogey, is now Joe's current drummer.  Also, I saw Don E. Opperman there, KWS' long time sound guy(He also worked for SRV and can be seen handing Stevie his yellow Strat in the Montreaux '82 DVD).  Interesting. 

I will say that like many I've become disenchanted with the rate at which KWS seems to be putting stuff out there.  In 03' while touring with Double Trouble on the ZZTop/Nugent tour he promised a new album by "the end of the year."  Nothing.  Then beginning in the summer of 05' he would open the show with bits of the documentary "Ten Days Out: Blues From the Backroads" and said it would be out by the end of 2005 or early 2006.  Then street team members were alerted that it would be released with a tentative March release date.  There was even an ad for it in blues revue. 

My point is this:  Kenny has not released a noteworthy album since 99's Live On.  Joe on the Other hand has put out 5 excellent albums and 2 DVDs since 2000 alone.  If I need to see "buy the NEW album" on the KWS website once more I'll puke.  However,  I think he is brilliant and am willing to endure the long delays and absences between records.    His shows are amazing too.  Both he and Joe pay undeniable homage to B.B. King: Kenny with a soulful rendition of "You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now" in concert and Joe obviously with "You Upset Me Baby" and stylistically on "Blues Deluxe."  To compare the two would not be relevant.  Their styles are very different and both pack a lot of soul into each show.  I've met Kenny on a couple of occasions and he was always smiling and polite.  Joe, too, is joking and laughing at his shows.

Sorry for the length-I didn't want to post this on the KWS board for fear of blasphemy!  Anyway, I'm glad to see there are others who appreciate both KWS and Joe and respect their different styles.  We are all lucky that they have blessed us with their gifts and love for the blues!

Edited to Add:  It was through Kenny that I discovered Joe last summer touring on the B.B. King tour.  He came out for only a half hour and blew the sky out of this outdoor venue in St. Louis.  Love em both.  Rock on!

so I had a little 24 year stretch...enduring "Lay Down Sally" , "Wonderful Tonight"
wondering ...where is "White Room"...."Crossroads"

even the best hang a "wrong turn" along the way.....Kenny will get back to the blues,
it's who he is, ... he was awesome on tour last summer

Yeah, in response to Rick's message I have to agree.  I was pleased that Kenny decided to follow where the music led, as he admitted, and created the recored he wanted to do.  Although I personnally feel it is his weakest album, that is just my opinion.  If an artist is willing to take risks and avoid pressure to conform to expectations, I think that says a lot about their character and potential for excellent future offerings.  Clapton has always made the records he's wanted to make and look at what he's shown for it.  The man has been a relevant artist in this and the last 4 decades.  Unbelievable.  Kenny and Joe can do as they damn well please. These guys would be playing even if no one listened so who am I or anyone else to say what they should and should not play.  They have no obligation to please, we are lucky to listen. As far as Kenny's blues doc is concerned I think it'll be some of the coolest stuff sinced sliced bread in terms of the blues.  The filming style from the clips I saw was unique, really rustic and had a really authentic vibe to it.  But hey, it could have been that nice summer concert air...
