Topic: New Amp Day!! Vintage content!

I just scored a vintage HIWATT 1975 DR103 and matching Fane loaded 4 x 12 for £1600!!

I am happy.

Very happy.

Now then, thoughts on attenuation?!

Re: New Amp Day!! Vintage content!

Nice score Jakey! That's pretty much the ultimate Gilmour amp right there. My NAD was a few days ago, I picked up a '66 or '67 Fender Twin Reverb for less than a grand! Its a clean monster and let's me get my EJ on when run in stereo between my '74 Twin Reverb, EP3 Echoplex, Deluxe Memory Man, and TC SCF chorus. I'd love to see pics of the new Hiwatt and rig!

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Wow, that looks amazing.

I've always had a soft spot for Hiwatts.  How does it sound?

I would expect it to sound amazing.

Very cool

Had one of these years ago they take pedals very well I found  I never needed an attenuator but who knows it may help.

really wish I had held on to it but at the time it was in poor condition and amps like it were cheap as chips you could pick up an old superlead for under £100

Re: New Amp Day!! Vintage content!

Well, having played it for a day, it's amazing. Very detailed amp- loads of sparkle and detail....loves pedals. Don't really need an attenuator as it's just about livable with. It's loud though. It's like a very good Plexi with a little more headroom.

But the detail and musicality are the things that stand out- that and the build quality.

I need to replace a couple of leaky caps (the Partridge Transformers are irreplaceable) but other than that, wonderful
