now now fellas... who is to blame here?  the proverbial drug dealer, or the addict?  GAS should be renamed GAA, or Gear Acquisition Addiction.  I reformed myself last summer, sold off a bunch of stuff, narrowed it down to the best and useful gear, and now have switched from GAA, to LTRPTIS (learning to really play the instrument syndrome).

All joking aside, tiger stripe?  seems gaudy.  but will have to see before making a definitive opinion, but then again I am not into highly figured tops.

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

Will Joe be sporting Big Hair and Spandex to go with his new Axe? Sorry I hear Tiger Strips and I had a 80’s flashback. I’M sure Ted Nugent would love to have one also.

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

Tiger striped Gibson studio? Or epiphone tiger striped les paul?

Just interested. I'm trying to stay vintage with my collection though.
I did play the Joe B Sig studio gibson lp at my local guitar shop, and was mildly impressed. Played just as well as the other gibsons in it's price range.

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

This could be interesting, but I think I would hold out for a JB '59 recreation.

Bonabird would be awesome, but Joe did mention in Cleveland that he felt in      1 1/2 to 2 yrs There would be a '59.  Now what to do

Bonaburst #18, JB Epi #191, MusicMan Darklord, LP Cherryburst Traditional Plus, Gigliotti GT, Takamine, Takamine 12 string, Martin D-28 & GPCPA1, Fender Amer STD Strat, Fender Custom Shop Gold Metalflake, Custom "OSU" Wagner Tele, Gibson SG Limited Govt Model, Jim Kelly Combo

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

Am I the only one who thinks for the prices of any of these sig. things...that'd I'd go out and manage to get at least three of the equivalent objects (axes, amps, pups, pedals, strings even)...and you go search them out, you'll end up happy.
Sorry, I just don't dig it...

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

Another signature guitar?  I think Joe might be in danger of diluting his 'exclusivity' a bit too much if he does.

To my mind, I first saw Joe rocking out on the RAH DVD with the Gold Top LP.  THAT will always be 'THE' Joe guitar for me which is why I went to a lot of trouble to secure one.  It will stay with me for a long time.

Sadly, you don't really see him play the gold top much any more...or the Bonaburst... Now that he has gone back to playing a T-style and even a Strat on some smaller gigs, it is getting harder to identify Joe with just one particular guitar type.  Not a bad thing, I must clarify... just an observation.

Unlike my other guitar hero - Angus Young...who has pretty much played the one type of guitar his whole career... smile

Personally, I won't be spending the not insignificant amounts of money for more signature gear...but to each their own...

Speaking strictly for myself, I'm okay with that. Of course, I don't own any of the REALLY pricey Joe guitars, just the Epi JBLP, but that one is definitely one I treasure. My No. 1 is a Baja Telecaster I got for a little over $600, and I doubt I'll ever bond with another guitar the way I have with that one. My other Fender is a Jimmie Vaughan Strat that I basically stole from a dealer at his cost because he'd been unable to move it for about three years. It plays and sounds fabulous (to my ears, at least...do anyone else's matter?).  To sate my periodic P90 lust I spent around $550 for a gorgeous Hanson Cigno that lets me get my Pete Townshend on just fine without breaking the bank.  What I've spent to obtain those four splendid guitars is a little more than half what a Bonaburst or a Gibson Joe B. goldtop would have cost me, so I understand part of your point...

Still, at the end of the day it isn't just about the money, is it?  People purchase all kinds of things (cars, houses, etc.) that cost far more than what they NEED to spend (a $250,000 Aston Martin won't get me to work any faster--legally--than a $600 beater will).  That doesn't mean people who buy nice cars or expensive houses are fools, does it?

So, if you're saying that my JB Fuzz or Wah pedals are a waste of money, I can't agree with you there.  And I doubt that the folks who could actually afford the pricier JB guitars will agree with you, either.  The value of a given object can't be understood just by looking at its price relative to other, similar products...

Look at it this way: Unless I hit the Powerball jackpot I'll never be able to own even one of the six heads Joe is currently touring with, but he has the same Way Huge Pork Loin, Boss RV-5, Fulltone Supa-Trem, etc. on his board that I do.  Even Joe doesn't necessarily buy the most expensive gear JUST because it is expensive...

Joe actually plays the burst quite frequently with Black Country Communion, only it's not a burst anymore. It was redone by Kim Lafleur in black. It has only been recently that Joe has been identified as playing purely Les Pauls and other Gibsons. Before Sloe Gin, Joe had Strats, Teles, Esquires, Gigliottis, Chandlers, and Les Pauls in his rig all at the same time.

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

I will agree they exapensive but there we go! I believe we should be happy for Joe with all the success and all these opertunitys for joe to put his name on these things , the reason that people are moaning about it is because they have not got that sum of cash to spend so its the same old story with some people on this forum can't help themselves with showing that little bit of green eye envy !! I love everything that joes brings out because I know it's gonna be killer no matter the price!!! Looking forward to the new les Paul and to share with Joe his sucsess!!! We are all fans here eh ?? That's why were on this forum?

Re: Tiger stripe Bonamassa model in the works?

The only JB sig guitar I think I'd really have to buy is the '83 Korina V. They don't make those as much and it'd be cheaper than getting an original 58 or the '83 reissue.

the "Just Got Paid" Korina V would be sweet

Spoken with the utmost maturity. Come on? Some people truly don't care for signature gear, it has nothing to do with a persons financial standpoint. I'm very happy for someone that has the opportunity to put their name on something as cool as a guitar, pedal, etc.. But, I don't feel the need to buy it necessarily.

Do I want a JB signature guitar? NO: I truly and honestly don't. Does that make me any less of a fan or appreciate his music and ability any less? NO.
