Topic: Just got some new albums.

I just got some new albums with my christmas money, some of which are some of Bonamassa's favorite albums:

Rory Gallagher - Irish Tour '74
Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers - Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton
Cactus - Cactus
Gary Clark Jr. - The Bright Lights EP
The Answer - Everyday Demons
The James Gang - Rides Again

Excellent choices.  Which of 'em you like the best?  Just curious, but I think mine would be the James Gang.  Don't get me on a Joe Walsh jig....Yikes!

Re: Just got some new albums.

Well, I'd say that Rory Gallagher one is really good. I hadn't heard it before, and after hearing it, I understand why Joe Bonamassa likes it so much. Also, someone else said that if you have that album and don't like it, to check yourself into a mental institution, and I agree!! The Gary Moore album is awesome as well.

CD's or Albums(vinyl)? Love The James Gang, greatest rock band based out of Cleveland, that's with Joe Walsh of course.

Got it. As I'm pushin' 59 years pretty quick, I remember when 33 1/3 vinyl made 45's obsolete. The term "album" started with those 33 1/3's and has endured through the years regardless of the recorded format.

                                                                                                        Fifty-Nine!?!?!?!?!?

Re: Just got some new albums.

33 1/3 albums didn't kill off the 45rpm immediately, you still needed them to stock the jukebox down @ your favorite watering hole. The advent of the Compact Disc jukes put the final nail in the 45's coffin. Then satellite internet jukes or whatever they're called phased out CD jukes. Gotta love the wider selection you get with the internet ones.

Going to see the Answer on Tuesday here in Hamburg. Very small club. Haven't seen the boys live in a couple of years now. Looking for to it. The roof will go for sure!

Loved Cactus.

Re: Just got some new albums.

Reel to reels were a high end way to listen to music, but they were big and bulky and expensive too. Cassette tape made the reel to reel experience marketable.

I in hindsight never figured why 8 tracks were made when cassettes were already around.I had a few dozen 8 tracks. The ex made me sell em and my player in a garage sale for 5 bucks!

I went straight to cassette players in my cars after watchin' too many friends throw money away on 8 tracks which constantly needed to be rewound and only seemed to play right by wedging a matchbook between the tape and the player opening.
