(CNN) -- Etta James, whose assertive, earthy voice lit up such hits as "The Wallflower," "Something's Got a Hold on Me" and the wedding favorite "At Last," has died, according to her longtime friend and manager, Lupe De Leon. She was 73.

Rest in Peace, Etta.  Not unexpected as she has been on a ventilator since Christmas.

Very very sad news. The angels will be singing the blues with Ms Etta amongst them. May she rest in peace. My sincerest condolences to all who knew her or was touched by her wonderful voice and radiant personality.

Ironically Johnny Otis who discovered Etta passed away on Tue., they will both be missed.

I saw Rogue43 post that she was in the hospital and how bad it was.

She will always be one of my Divine Divas.  I saw her a number of times and she gave it her all.
There are some singers where to get the full effect you have to see them live, and she was one of them.  What she did to a song, you can't teach, you just have it.

One of my divas as well. At Last was sung at my wedding.  We've all got to go someday and she left a legacy that can't be matched. I thought it so fitting that the set list was changed at the last moment in the Baked Potato to include the cover of one of her iconic songs. She was on our minds, and remains so in mine. RIP Etta.

I will miss her as well, what a sweeeeet soul voice. This is a great DVD, I bought for about $9 at Circuit City before they went out of business. She does 2 or 3 songs on it. Mick Taylor on the guitar. RIP Etta.
