Topic: 6101 or VM combo?

Whats best for nailing the JB tone? Marshall 6101 or VM combo 50 watt?
I can trade my 6101 for a VM combo mint.
I would do it because the VM has on board reverb and should me more usable at lower levels.
I only use the crunch channel on the 6101 (super lead voicing), but it sounds killer.
Any thoughts?

PS; using a Gibby SG standard, PTP wired instead of the pcb. (50s)

Re: 6101 or VM combo?

I prefer the 6101, definitly closer to Joe's tone than the VM's. I like it mainly because it's so versatile and has so much features. At home I used to run it on the half power triode setting (25W) and on stage in full power, pentode mode and get 100W out of it.

no reliabiity issues with those settings? I heard a lot of rumours on overheating...

Re: 6101 or VM combo?
