I've danced around the boutique delay and reverb market for a while. I've had a Dr. Scientist Reverberator, Malekko Ekko 616 and Malekko Ekko LoFi 616, Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay, Boss RV-5 and DD-3, MXR Carbon Copy, Line 6 DL4, Ibanez AD9, and EHX Memory Man and Holy Grail. I ended up settling on the Boss RV-5 and MXR Carbon Copy, mainly because they held their own with the more expensive pedals. I kept the DD-3 for obvious reasons as it's from the 80's, and every now and then I swap it with the MXR for a brighter delay tone. For the most part though I think a solid analog delay and digital reverb will cover all your bases. The expensive "boutique" pedals really didn't justify their high prices when tested side-by-side with the "mainstream" effects. That being said, my choice of dirt pedals is an entirely different story!
