Re: The NFL - National Football League

I see the Saints winning next week in San Fran, although it will be very tough against a very good team.  Giants heading to Greenbay, but that's as far as they go.  I'm predicting the NFC championship with the Saints against the Pack.  I see the winner of this game playing the Patriots in the Superbowl with the NFC champion winning it all.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Even if the Steelers won, I don't think they would have made it past the Patriots in their condition.  They fly by the seat of their pants too much for me, I don't know why I even consider them my team!  Ben's fumble with less than 20 secs left in the 4th really screwed them regardless if he recovered it.  They were so close to FG range, maybe another 5 yards or so.

I only saw the replay, but it looked like credit for that winning TD should go more to the receiver than to Tebow.

Yeah.  Somebody had to throw it for him to catch it but either way, the receiver is the one who ultimately scored the TD, so he deserves a lot of credit!!  I think its just the whole: QB is the team leader thing, so naturally, they tend to get the credit as far as the media and news sources are concerned.

The really gob-smacking thing about this game are Tebow's stats, which were 10/21 for 316 yds!!!!!

Anyone ever heard of any QB anywhere averaging nearly 32 yds per completed pass??? That's insane!!

Tres, I'm not gloating, but has any playoff team ever only scored a safety?

His passing accuracy has really improved. He puts so much pressure on a defense with his scrambling and threat to run that his receivers get open a lot since the linebackers have to stay up to stop his run. The receivers did a lot of good blocking for him as well.

Hey Mike,

Agree with you there, but the Packers will have their hands full come Sunday. The Giants are playing their best ball of the year and it doesn't take much memory to recall the last time they came to Green Bay for the NFC Championship game and stuck it to Green Bay. Of course, we did have an older gentlemen at quarterback at that time who never played well in the cold. In my opinion, the Packers, Saints and the Giants are the three best teams in the NFL and I look to one of them going all the way. Which one will only be answered by the team who comes to play in the next few weeks. The real season has begun and it should be fun to watch. smile

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Yes the Steelers did lose...
But what was more disappointing was the fact you have another Q/B (Charlie Batch)
sitting on his behind because their head coach refuses to use him.....
at least he could run around better than BIG BEN can right now.
.
The point spread was 8 points in their favor..L.O.L
.
Blame it on Ben, Blame on the injuries....BLAME IT ON THEIR COACH.....
.
I'm really starting to think sports are fixed...Now more than ever...........
.
p/s How in the hell can a team go up 20 points in one quarter.....I'm sorry but Denver is not that good this year..

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Well Don if you think sports are fixed they may well be, by a higher power possibly. According to Yahoo News Tebow had the scripture passage John 3:16 written on his eye black in the 2009 BCS Championship game which he has become associated with. It's illegal to wear personal messages in the NFL, however Tebow ended up throwing for 316 yards with an ave. of 31.6 yards per pass and the final qtr. TV ratings were, you guessed it, 31.6 million. No wonder John Elway has changed his tune regarding his maligned QB. Pitts D was rated highest in the league and New England's is one of the weakest. This weekend should be very interesting. Perhaps it might be manifest destiny that Tebow should face the Saints....too bizarre.

As far as the Ravens, I just cannot stand Ray Lewis or Suggs..They are the main reason I don't like the Ravens!  I like the Steelers, just get irritated with them at times!  But I do think Mike Tomlin is a good coach.  I'm sure they'll be in the mix next near.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

If Pitt was healthy, it would have been a different game.

I guess you didn't know that Tebow not only threw that pass, but he caught it and ran it in.

Yes that 80 yd pass was actually 62 yds running after the catch by Thomas. But it's Tebow that gets all the credit.  Like when Denver's kicker kicked a 59 and 51 yd field goal to win the Chicago game, the press gives all the credit to Telegraphing-when-I am-going-to Pass Tebow.

When the Raiders kicker Jano kicks field goals, I never hear Carson Palmer's name.  Probably, because he didn't do it.  Really, who would you rather have as QB? Cam Newton or Pitcher Tim Tebow?  My Raiders really blew it when KC and former Denver QB Kyle Orton gave us a gift by beating Denver.  The Anointed Tebow threw for 50 yds and Kyle"the forgotten" Orton threw for 175 yds.  KC with Orton"the forgotten" also beat Greenbay.  If it was Denver that did it, it would be Tebow beat Green Bay.

We will see how long Denver's Tebow will last.  He should last a while since they picked him in the first round.  Mr. first rounder should be expected to win and not a surprise.  We will see how NFL teams adjust to his style after they have seen his and Denver's offensive style.

Please Raiders take note - get a defense and don't let him run a draw. Time to make the playoffs while we still have Lechler and Jano. You play 2 games against Denver next year.  Make them count so I can do my RiverCat^-^ stance in the Black Hole. McFadden please take care of your paws.  I really know you are something special and want you to make your mark in the NFL.  Got your jersey, baby.  And happy we have a new GM, great pick-up.  Onward to hopefully better things.

Geaux Matty Flynn!!! He was LSU's QB the last time we won the National Championship.

Matt could easily be a starting QB on many NFL teams.  With as good a QB as AR is, you have to wonder if they'll use Flynn for trade bait on draft day.

The Raiders will interview Packers  Reggie McKenzie today in Oakland to fill their need @ General Mgr., so who knows, maybe Matt Flynn could be wearing silver & black one day soon. However Chicago is after McKenzie also.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Haven't followed the NFL much this year, but I'm glad TIM Tebow's doing well.  Ten completions and 300 yards - amazing.  What people need to realize is you can't wrap your fingers around grit and determination, but accept it for what it produces, a winner of the purest form.

Glad to have seen Reggie McKenzie move up to GM, very intelligent man who has been around football forever. Another name being tossed around for head coaching jobs is the Packer's offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. Absolute tragedy struck the Philbin family this week, their son's (Michael) body was recovered from the Fox River. The Packer organization is a very tight knit, family type group and so this has hit everyone very hard. Prayers go up for Michael and his entire family for their terrible loss. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football … 52479770/1

I read elsewhere that the first thing that your new man did was to fire someone who wasn't expecting it. Good start.

That's right G Dawg, Reggie McKenzie's first move was to fire Hue Jackson today. This isn't a complete shock after hearing that Mark Davis talked directly to McKenzie last week without any input from Jackson who thought he would have a say in who would be hired. Let's review, what does NFL stand for class? Not For Long!!!!!!!!!!! Bring Gruden back.....seriously doubt it, but how 'bout Jeff Fisher????
