I pick the 49ers to win tonight. Have a good time JDawg.

Licking my chops Doc. How about  a split in the interest of sportsmanship? I'm lighting off the pit for some Christmas eats so I  might as well toss in a butt. You send me a bottle of that legendary sauce and I'll send you a nice smoked pork shoulder, unpulled and frozen so it will arrive in eating shape for your New Year's fest.
Rick

You're on!  I just saw this and you are being very generous.  Won't make it for New Years but THAT'S OK. More Later by email. Super Busy here.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Week 17 is upon us with four playoff spots still up for grabs, and teams that are already certain likely to rest key players. Will Indy try to win the Suck for Luck option, or will they go for a win and leave Luck to the Rams?

Detroit at Green Bay - Lions need the win, but I'll take a half strength Packers team to still be too good.
SF49 at St.L - No contest, shirley?
NYJ at Miami - Jets slide continues I think, Fins finishing strongly.
Chicago at Minn - A must win for da Bears.
Buff at NE - Should be an easy win and HFA for the Pats.
Carolina at NO - Could be close but high-scoring game. Saints for me.
Wash at Philly - The whole world expects an Eagles win, so don't be surprised if....
Indy at Jax - Jax may be sucking worse than Indy right now.
Tenn at Houston - Could be real close. Toss of the coin.
Tampa at Atl - Straightforward Falcon win.
Balt at Cincy - GO RAVENS!
Pitt at Cleveland - I hate those Steelers.
KC at Denver - I expect St. Tim to do the business.
SD at Oak - Can't please all my left coast friends.
Sea at Ari - Another coin toss for me.
Dallas at NY Giants - Winner goes on, loser goes home. Hate the Cowboys much more, and a fit Eli should top an injured Romo.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Well, that should answer any questions regarding Matt Flynn, Aaron Rodgers' backup. The Pack sat Rodgers for the whole game and so Flynn comes in and sets an all time Packer record with 480 yards passing and six touchdowns with only one interception. They also sat Charles Woodson, Greg Jennings and Clay Mathews. 45 to 41 Packers over the Lions.

And now the real season begins...

Geaux Matty Flynn!!! He was LSU's QB the last time we won the National Championship.

Matt could easily be a starting QB on many NFL teams.  With as good a QB as AR is, you have to wonder if they'll use Flynn for trade bait on draft day.

Five wrong last time, not too shabby in the circumstances. I understand that commiserations are in order for our Bolts fans here? Sorry guys, hard beans. wink

Here, fwiw, are my picks for this weekend. They all seem 'obvious' choices to me, which means that I'll probably be lucky to make 50%. roll

CIN HOU Can there be any doubt?

DET NO See above, with bells on.

ATL NYG Ok, it depends which Giants turn up.

PIT DEN The miracle is over.

The Raiders will interview Packers  Reggie McKenzie today in Oakland to fill their need @ General Mgr., so who knows, maybe Matt Flynn could be wearing silver & black one day soon. However Chicago is after McKenzie also.

Not so fast my friend, I like Cincy and ATL to prevail. Stafford could give NO some problems but don't think that they can outscore the Saints offense. I don't understand why Ben is even starting, they won't need him. I will go ahead and predict that the PITT defense will outscore Tebow's offense.

Pitt/Den will be closer than people think. The Steelers are very banged up, but Den will still need a turnover or 2 to help their cause.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Geaux NOLA! Did anybody else get in on the NFL.com Playoff Fantasy Contest? I went for it and have been rollin' up big points courtesy of Arian Foster, Cedric Benson, Calvin Johnson, Drew Brees, & Jimmy Graham. Thats just todays games and I've got the Pitt defense in tomorrows game. I'm hopin' ATL kicks a lotta field goals against the G men, since Bryant is my PK this weekend. BINGO!!! another TD by Calvin Johnson.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Nah, I don't play those fantasy games, Jdawg. But yes, I was also mightily impressed by Mr. Brees, who just keeps breaking records every time he plays. It'll take one hell of a team to beat the Saints.

Looking forward to the Ravens vs Houston rematch. big_smile

Re: The NFL - National Football League

The Saints are headed here to play the 49ers next Sunday. The only advantage the Niners have is being @ home in an outdoor stadium. 2 of the Saints losses were outdoors which seems to slow them down a bit statistically. I'm hopin' the Steel Curtain shuts out DEN today for another chunk of fantasy points.

Tebowed again! It seems to me he is a figure of destiny now, destined to endlessly frustrate the detractors of his skill, luck and faith. Wait 'till he gets good! Good luck next week JDawg, the Niners will need it. N.O. looks like a juggernaut.

In the unlikely event that Pittsburgh Jeff sees this - sorry, nothing personal,.....

..............but man, how sweet was that??? cool big_smile

What a supreme way to get Tebowed, first play of OT...all the way....

I can't see anything stopping the Brees juggernaut either, another awesome performance by him.
