Topic: Frampton guitar

Not sure whether this should have gone under "Other Artists", "Off Topics" or under the gear section. At any rate, Peter Frampton's '54 Les Paul was found and returned to him after 32 years. Amazing!

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Re: Frampton guitar

What a great story.  They didn't say in the article, but this is the Black Beauty Les right?

Re: Frampton guitar

Yes, that's the way I understand it.

From some of the player talk re the post, the old LP was quite modified with hbuckers and tailpiece mods added to bring it up to more modern (in that era) specs.

Thanks Rick.I am not a player so all that stuff goes over my head.I guess I should have asked if Joes is a more rare and valuable guitar?

Re: Frampton guitar

Joe's are definitely more valuable due to original condition.  Frampton's was so heavily modified it's valuable because it was Frampton's #1, not because it is desirable from a historic perspective.  The guitar is actually a mess ...

Re: Frampton guitar

I was thinking.......I have always associated Peter Frampton with this guitar, or one of it's replicas, so what kind of guitar did he play before he was given this one? Anyone know?
