Topic: Sena Ehrhardt...

Here's a name you might want to write down for future reference. wink

I first ran into this lovely lady with the magical, bluesy voice a couple of years ago at the Prairie Dog Blues Festival in Southwest Wisconsin. Her band comprised of Sena on lead vocals, her father Ed Ehrhardt on guitar, Steve Hansen on bass/vocals, and Tim Hasler on drums provide a great mix of a Blues/Jazz sound, but it's Sena's voice that really stands out in the band. They have released their first album entitled, "Leave The Light On" of which I obtained a copy and really like it! She also has been nominated for 2012 Blues Music Awards-Best New Artist Debut. Here is Sena's website: http://www.senaehrhardt.com/

And here's the only song I got to record at the festival back in July of 2010. They were called back to the stage by the crowd and decided to do, "Angel from Montgomery": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAGgJERKc80

Might you think that Sena is just another pretty face, not so, she recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. Look out world, here comes Sena Ehrhardt! smile

Re: Sena Ehrhardt...

I mentioned Sena last year here to little interest and am glad Roy's bringing her up again.  She's a very good singer and her guitar playing Dad has some serious chops.  Sena's also extremely good looking.

I remember that Curby and I too posted up a link to one of her songs previously. The day I saw her and her band live at the festival I was with my sister and wife. You know how women are, always got to look their best in public, so we got there about half-way into Sena's set. Why they had her and the band start at noon as the first act I'll never know, the organizer I guess didn't realize the jewel he had leading off. Anyway, the crowd was simply blown away, each and every song we heard got a really nice ovation. I hadn't even had my first beer before they finished. wink

As you mentioned, she is very attractive, but she's also a very sweet, down to Earth person. Got a chance for a short visit with her after the performance and she was just as sweet and pleasant as her voice. My understanding is that she still works at the Mayo Clinic, but how long she'll do that is anyone's guess. I look for very big things from this young lady in the future. smile

Re: Sena Ehrhardt...

I know Curby and I have mentioned this very talented and beautiful young Lady and her great Band before, but yesterday I believe I witnessed the greatest three set show I've ever seen in my life! No superlatives can describe just how fabulous this show was. Instead, I will allow the pictures and videos I took to speak for themselves.

A couple of weeks prior to the show I contacted Sena directly and asked her permission and if she would like it, if I took pictures and videos. She responded by saying I would be more than welcome to do so and so, I did both. I can show you the pictures now, but they barely scratch the surface of what we all who attended experienced. Believe it or not, I did capture the entire show on video, but because it was on my HD camera, it's going to be a very, very long task to upload to YouTube. However, it is so good that I'll continue working on it. Trust me, there was not one song that I wouldn't be proud to show you! smile

Re: Sena Ehrhardt...

I saw Sena and her band last year at the Bayfront Blues Fest in Duluth. She will be there again this year as well as the Famous Dave's Blues Fest in MPLS in June so I will see them at least twice this year. Their performance last year at Bayfront was, in my opinion, good but not great. No doubt Sena's got a great voice, but overall the band and/or their material just didn't do much for me. Certainly a long ways from one of the best I've ever seen, but again, just my opinion.

Re: Sena Ehrhardt...

All I can say to that Lee is see them at a club show as soon as you can. I knew they were good when I saw part of their show almost two years ago at the Prairie Dog Blues Festival in Wisconsin, but I was blown away by how great they are in a club environment, especially with their new drummer Tim Hasler. I also thought that Sena's dad Ed was pretty good on guitar, but now I know he's truly one of the finest around. And Steve "Dancin" Hansen is awesome in bass too! Wait until you see some of the videos...

Re: Sena Ehrhardt...

OK everyone, here's a little video proof of what I was talking about from this past Sunday afternoon. Sena and her band performing a T-Bone Walker song called, "Cold Feeling". No, I would say no one present was "Cold" after this one! wink Keep in mind too, that this is only the third song into a three set performance dealing with a club sound man who had a little bit too much celebrating the night before on St. Paddy's Day! roll I could have worked the sound board much better than this fellow and I have no clue what to do. It only gets better from here on out...Enjoy...

Had for me to believe that only Curby and I are really trying to promote this great band. Maybe you all just need a little more video proof? wink OK, here are a couple of more songs from their show that I was at...

She'd get my blood flowing. Send her out south by west and I'll be more inclined. Somehow, when groups are always more than a thousand miles away, I can't get het up so much.

Admit it Rick, she'd just be another pretty voice in a big crowd in SoCal on those Blvd.'s of broken dreams.

Ice fog Rick? Yeah, we call that fun time in Wisconsin because, you just never know if it's starting to freeze on the ground forming what's called "Black Ice" here. It's called that because, you can't see it, but trust me it's there. Usually most Wisconsinites step on the gas if they hit it and...Weeeeeeeeeee!!!...is usually what you'll hear emanating from their car! wink

Re: Sena Ehrhardt...

On a very special night (last Friday to be exact), at a very special place (the Windhover Center for the Arts in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin), a young, beautiful and extremely talented Woman and her Band thanked me. Needless to say, I choked back a wee bit of emotion. Don't miss seeing and hearing the Sena Ehrhardt Band. Trust me, up and up and up is the only direction they are headed! cool

A bit more of a stripped down version of Sena with her Dad, Ed Ehrhardt, on acoustic guitar. Gee, maybe I shouldn't use the term, "stripped down"? wink http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_cWEXLaK2c
