Topic: Favourite 5 Gigs of 2011

Took the time to reflect on a hectic concert year for me and decided to list my 5 favourite gigs, without listing an artist more than once which unfortunately ruled out Joe's gig in Paris. It will be interesting to see other 2011 favourites from this forum.

1. Roger Waters - Manchester
2. Joe Bonamassa - London (2nd night)
3. Black Country Communion - Glasgow
4. Paul Rodgers - Glasgow
5. Golden Earring - Heerhugowaard

Listening to Planet Rock whilst I pack my suitcase - going to Tenerife tomorrow for 2 weeks to get some sun and get some peace to listen to my music at the same time.

Had to smile when I saw this, Eva! big_smile

1. Ryan McGarvey - 1st gig in Europe Groesbeek, NL.  big_smile I was sure that Ryan would be good, but this first one blew me away like nothing had since my Bonabaptism!

2. Otis Taylor - Chesapeake Bay Blues, USA. This was such a total surprise, but Ryan just shades it for me. If I hadn't seen him here first, I too would have been gobsmacked at Schoeppingen.

3. Joe Bonamassa, Carre, Amsterdam, NL. The last night.

4. Ryan McGarvey, Mook, NL. The last show in Holland....sigh....

5. Dana Fuchs, Chesapeake Bay Blues, USA

Re: Favourite 5 Gigs of 2011

Virgil and the Accelerators (Robin 2)
Joe Bonamassa Hammersmith Night 2
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (Boston, August)
Black Country Communion (Hampton Beach)
Dropkick Murphys (Fenway Park)

These are the top five.  I didn't get to as many shows as usual this year so I think all the ones I went to were great.  Virgil beat out Joe only because it was my first time and I so didn't think I would get to see them this year, and they were amazing.

Re: Favourite 5 Gigs of 2011

No problem.
1. Rock Candy Funk Party, The Baked Potato, Aug. 9 Joe B guesting so I guess this counts as a separate gig. Hands down the gig of the year for me. Who has seen Joe play Funk, Jazz, Rock and Blues? EPIC! (the gig in April was super too, but the band was tighter in August.)
2. Joe Bonamassa solo tour at Las Vegas. The Bonabanner drop for the first time and a hell of a party with a big group of Bonabuddies. The wife got a commemorative tat so she must have had fun too!
3 Black Country Communion world tour debut show, San Diego.
4. Eric Gales, The Coach House. Smoking gig!
5. Tommy Castro Band at the Birch Aquarium. So cool, basically a private party for 60 with TC jamming. The wife and I got comped beers by the bartender who said "You won the dance contest." Rocking!
Honorable mention. Philip Sayce at Molly Malones Pub, Los Angeles. He came highly recommended by the forum crew and delivered in spades.
