Re: Joe Bonamassa Signature Wah (has anybody heard anything?)
I found that both pedals are already clear coated so theres so worry about them aging.

got mine last night
really nice sweep to it, voiced perfectly
sounds great with gain too
Just got my Bonamassa wah today. I've been using a Crybaby Original for the last 14 years that my Dad bought new for me as a Christmas gift in 1997. Honestly, my Crybaby Original feels way more solid than this one. Granted, the Bonamassa wah sounds far superior, but as far as build quality goes it feels cheap considering it was $170. Hopefully over time the fact that it sounds so damn good will help me to forget that it feels cheap. Just my two cents....
I have an old Thomas Organ wah…to me, the JB Wah feels very well built. It is much more solid-feeling than any wah I have ever messed with.
Someone compare the new wah to other wahs. NOT how its made.
You want honest? Ok here it is in a nutshell;
I think it's a killer wah. One of the two best wah pedals Dunlop has produced with the Jerry Cantrell Wah as my personal favorite from the Dunlop lineup. I like the true bypass feature as I don't like colored up tone and it's got the just right amount of sweep. Never liked the short sweep of the Budda wahs. It's as good as my old Made in Italy wah tone wise. Will it replace my Wilson? No.
I THINK YOU ALL FORGET THAT THIS WAH WAS MADE FOR JOE NOT YOU!!! IM SURE ITS A GREAT WAH IV ORDERED ONE I LOVE DUNLOP WAHS , BUT LETS BE HONEST WHEN 95% OF US ARE PLAYING UNDER THE DART BOARD IN YOUR LOCAL PUB OR CLUB NOBODY IS GONNA CARE LESS ABOUT WHAT WAH YOU HAVE, 99% OF YOUR SPECTATORS ARE GONNA NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BONAMASSA WAH OR A BEPSECO WEEPER !! ITS NICE TO COMPARE AND TALK ABOUT THE GEAR BUT I LOVE HOW PEOPLE ARE GOING , "ITS A GREAT WAH BUT I PREFER..........ETC WHY DID YOU BUY IT?????
SORRY IM NOT GONNA MOAN AS ITS CHRISTMAS BUT PEOPLE WHO GIVING BAD REVIEWS ABOUT JOE'S SIGNATURE GEAR ON JOES FORUM!!!! PLEASE !

Right. If you don't like it, don't buy it or just return it so someone else can appreciate it.
I agree Spider, the Cantrell wah is exceptional...AND it's Bronze - it is on my board and I can't justify buying Joe's (although I am gassing HARD). I can get this throaty howl out of the Cantrell that I just couldn't out of the others I tried. Is the sweep adjustable on the JB - like the Cantrell?

No but you can switch from non-bypass to true bypass. That's is a big plus.
I think it is a killer wah. It sounds exactly like a wah should to me…and I've tried many. My search is done.
Just received my Wah. Wrapping xmas presents then a party. looks like I will not be able to plug it in until tomorrow. Well.....maybe real late tonight

well, I think it is ok to give bad gear reviews here in the forum on any gear, including JB signature stuff. I think this forum, and particularly this section has become some much greater than pure JB gear discussion. I envision it in the next couple of years being as big as MLP, LPF, FDP forums and so on, and likely the gear section will need expansion. Anyhow, it is nice to have opinions from people who are loving it and why, as well as those who are not as impressed and the reasons why that is. let us not censor the content, as long as it is done in a polite fashion.
i must say, i do like the way the pedal sounds in the demo from the dunlop youtube channel. one thing struck me as interesting is that JB is now an almost exclusively humbucker player, and the JB FF was developed with that in mind and perhaps so did the wah.
Just to clarify, the tone of this wah alone will keep it on my board. I am in no way seeking to insult Joe or his gear. I feel honesty is the best medicine, and if someone has a differing opinion it should be welcome. I bought a Budda Superdrive without ever playing one just because Joe used to use them and it happens to be the best amp I've ever played. I do not regret buying this wah and am looking forward to enjoying it for many years. I apologize to anyone who felt my intent was to insult them, Joe, or Joe's gear. Merry Christmas.

Whether he’s blazing through the blues on his own or rocking with Black Country Communion, Joe Bonamassa’s playing is fiery, deep, and powerful. And when he really wants to express himself in a solo, he steps on a Cry Baby.
“The first pedal I ever purchased was a Cry Baby, 25 years ago,” he says. “I am so honored to have my name on this pedal and hope it brings you as much fun as it brings me every night on stage.”
We worked with Joe to develop the JB95 Joe Bonamassa Signature Cry Baby, based on a custom wah wah built by Jeorge Tripps to Joe’s specifications so that it could be easily integrated into the vintage aesthetic of his rig.
It sports a classy copper top and smooth-finish black body to fit perfectly with the copper finish of the Joe Bonamassa Signature Fuzz Face.
What really sets Joe’s Cry Baby apart from others, though, are its guts. We sat down with Jeorge Tripps and asked him a few questions about the latest addition to the Cry Baby family.
What was the design process for the Joe Bonamassa Signature Cry Baby?
Well, this whole project started when I was working with Joe on his Signature Fuzz Face and I noticed he was using a vintage wah wah. I asked him what he liked about it so that I could give him a Cry Baby with all of that and more.
I had him try all of our different Cry Babys and we noted what he liked about this or that pedal. I had a handful of prototype Halo inductors that Dunlop R&D Director Sam McRae made, so I put one of those in there. Joe loved the final product.
How did the halo inductor change the sound of the Cry Baby?
Halo inductors give the Cry Baby a very throaty, punchy tone and allow for a very wide sweep. The sweep on this Cry Baby is one of the widest out there—it’s incredibly expressive.
What did you add for the official signature model?
Well, Joe isn’t a big true bypass guy, he prefers the high end roll off that non-true bypass brings—that darker sound you get. But a lot of players don’t like their tone to be colored that way, so we added a switch on the inside that toggles between true bypass and non-true bypass.
I also added an output buffer so the JB95 would work better with Fuzz Faces. We put on the large thru-hole components as a nod to all the vintage guys out there.
Check our interview with Joe Bonamassa below, where he talks about his Signature Cry Baby, his Signature Fuzz Face, and his passion and dedication to his craft. And go pick up Joe’s latest album, Dust Bowl, to hear the Joe Bonamassa Signature Cry Baby in action, particularly on the track “You Better Watch Yourself.”
Opened up my Christmas present yesterday...
This new J.B. Wah is a perfect match for the J.B. Fuzz unit.....Thx, Joe & Dunlop
It looks great sounds & different than my old 70's Crybaby(s) or my vintage still working Ace tone Wah form the 70's.....
My opinion is if you want it buy it...life's too short ...So rock out & have fun with it !!!
BTW does anybody know the best way to lessen the hollow static sound the wah gives off when the pedal is up? Will lessening the cable lengths make any difference?
