Re: VATA Tour

Last night at Newcastle, the VATA lads were opening again for Uriah Heep; had to wonder if the lads were "brickin' it" in the wings, waiting to go on in front of 300 plus partisan, Geordie, Uriah Heep fans, but needen't have worried, Virgil, Gabriel & Jack gave a confident, but not arrogant performance. A much reduced set from normal; Working Man, Bad Girl and Backstabber gave Virgil the chance to strut like a young Rock God while the Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute and Silver Giver showed him as the Blues Maestro.  Gabba & Jack were having the time of their lives too, and why not?

Interesting completion to a circle, 18months ago, at the Newcastle Academy2 it was my first encounter with these lads, third on the bill in the upstairs room to Oli and Joanne; now, they're supporting a legendary rock band on the main stage. Chatting with Virgil after their set, he was telling me how first time at the Academy, they walked round the place as they knew Joe B played there back in '08, and how they  hoped to be someday playing the main stage in their own right.

Well lads, you've got big footprints to follow, but you're making good headway.

2011 has been a hell of a good year, here's to a bigger and better 2012.

Re: VATA Tour

Don't know whether its because this year is getting off to a slow start gig-wise or whether its because I saw so much of VATA last year but I'm itching for a good gig.

See there's some dates filtering through for VATA in the UK, before they tour with Wilko in April:-
Tue 24th Jan -
Mon 30th Jan
The Great British Rock And Blues Festival; Butlins, Skegness
Sat 25th Feb Virgil and The Accelerators:  Spiders Web, Grimsby
Mon 12th Mar Oxford: Famous Monday Blues: Virgil and The Accelerators Bullingdon Arms (The Bully) Oxford
Sat 17th Mar  An Evening Of Blues:
Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack + Virgil and The Accelerators + Geoff Everett Band
Central Theatre,Chatham
Sun 25th Mar Mick Ralphs + Virgil and The Accelerators The Met ,Bury
Tue 3rd Apr  Virgil and The Accelerators + Mitch Laddie The Stables, Milton Keynes

Any word of European gigs Martin? I know you and the lads are itching to get over and play.

Re: VATA Tour

Hi,
We are working on european dates, we have a sticking point with a gig in Paris that we really want to do, so its  holding things up. We have more Uk dates coming in. Logistics is a nightmare!

Sandy

I'm a little late in seeing this.  Congratulations Martin and VATA!  Excellent and I have been enjoying my cd; of course wishing to see them live as well.

Phil sad   .... it appears as if this trip of mine needs to be extended quite a bit.  In fact Pete did say you were flying me to Dusseldorf to see Henrik, which could make up for missing VATA (sorry Martin, you didn't hear that)!

Sandy smile   ... hmmm, I'll have to check with Pete, I'm sure he's equipped for whatever need arises!

Martin, please let us know if a UK date happens between March 22 and March 31, preferably London!! smile

Sandy

I know a place ....

Re: VATA Tour

See (or "hear") Paul Jones played "88" from The Radium last night, in amongst a canny session from Will Wilde.

Anyone heading down to the Skegness festival at the week-end, looks like VATA at topping the Rock stage on Friday night, after Krissy Matthews and Roger Chapman, expect on stage around 11pm.

Nothing yet Kenny, sorry. We are not doing many dates up to April. Maybe later in the year.

Wished I could have gotten down for the show, especially when I've just had an email from a friend who did manage to be there; and I quote; "the lads [VATA] totally ruled on Friday night at Skegness".

From that report and this clip:

it's easy to see why. Well done lads.....

Any update on the gig that was being rearranged at The Brook in Southampton?  I've still got a fresh in the bag t-shirt I promised to hand over to you!

Re: VATA Tour

Sent a few more clips of Virgil, Gabriel & Jack doing their thing at Skegness:-

Working Man kicks off at the solo and is relentless

Shame the vocals did not come through well, nice footage though

(at 1.27 he totally nails a very difficult Bonamassa lick.)

Tight as anything on this one

Here’s a rare one from December; Virgil sitting in with his dad’s band, the Ex-ellerators
