big_smile   Liking the sound of this.

Any chance of it being a 'Don't Explain' gig with Joe turning up??  A wee side project before his tour in March?  Love Beth, so will hopefully be able to head along anyway.

I believe it was during the Paul Jones interview that Joe said he'd like to do a couple shows with Beth and everyone who played on the record. Hope that happens and hope they do a DVD.  wink

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I was surprised when I heard which venue she was playing so yes, it's possible it's a "joint" gig. If it is it's one I will not be able to attend  sad

Interview with Blues in Britain mentioning Joe-

"I was just really excited to work with him. I was so flattered that he would call me to do that, and then to give me such leeway: I mean, truly, what a gentleman!"

According to this French interview with Beth, Joe wants to do about 10 shows with Beth and his band to promote Don't Explain.... or maybe 10 days on the calendar for promotion??? Not sure now. ??  wink

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I can't remember last time I got so much listening pleasure from woman's vocals as I got from listening to "Don't Explain". An outstanding album indeed.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

Call me Captain Slow!!!!

Finally bought the CD to see what all the fuss is about.  WOW just about sums it up, what a voice Beth Hart has.  I never for one minute expected that, so much soul and so much blues.  Just ordered Leave the Light on, 37 Days, and Live at Paradiso. Can't wait, she's great........

Oh and JB's guitar breaks were just fantastic as well.

Thanks JB for sending her my way.

You forgot to order Beth Hart's album "My California". It's big stuff too.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

Just have to post again about this CD, since listening to it many times.  It is just a FANTASTIC CD, really stellar...excellence at its best!  Just love it!!

OK, for any Beth Hart fans pre-Joe.  What should I buy next in order, in case Santa thinks I've been more naughty than nice and I don't get everything I want.   tongue

Amazon couldn't post My California in the same package as it wasn't available until mid January, but I think I have enough to keep me going until then!!!

I'm a bit on the slow side too! I've had Don't Explain for a while but only yesterday got my first Beth solo CD, Live at Paradiso. It's incredible, I too will be buying more in the near future.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I shamefully have also just gotten around to getting this....Now kicking myself for not getting it sooner. Great vocals and guitar...and just excellent tunes as well...Lots of variety and it's all good. "must be love"a makes me want to dance every time I hear it and "rather go blind" makes me want to cry. What a great disc...Thank you Beth and Joe !

Hi there,
As a Beth fan "pre-Joe" I can tell you a little about the albums. Only you can pick.

*Live at Paradiso is awesome - especially if you like the live sound (no studio alteration) which suits Beth's voice best. (Not for little kids though due to Beth's longshoreman's tongue - DVD as well.) For raw, live and gritty that's the one.

*My California has beautiful songs and is more of a mellow album - as that was the intent of the project to focus on storytelling.

*37 Days was recorded live in the studio and has a great live feel with hardly any studio effects over Beth's voice. Nice mix of driving rock and piano stuff.

*Leave the Light On is really a Beth classic. It's the first album she did after getting into recovery and is very cohesive. The themes focus on struggling and fighting to break old patterns, battling her demons and learning to live life to the fullest.

*Screamin for my Supper is one of my favorites. Great songs on that one and the first where Beth wrote all the material.

*Immortal was her first album and she did not write all the material. In my opinion the best songs are Immortal and Am I the One (both written by Beth) but they are better on Live at Paradiso.

*Beth was not happy about the release of the Ocean of Souls album. It was a demo that she doesn't like the sound of from the early 1990's and it was released by her former manager from many many years ago.

P.S. I am addicted to Don't Explain. I keep thinking I have to listen to something else and I do - such as Dust Bowl. But then I end up putting Don't Explain back in my player. My favorite Joe solo is the one at the end of I'll Take Care of You. I love all his work on the album but that one kills me every time.
