Nice to see the Mullet man up & put on cleats instead of bunny slippers and ballet shoes.  Run the ball?  Check!  Pass the ball?  Check!  Foaming at the mouth defense?  Check!

Sorry folks. The Chargers are an injured team playing third string linemen and linebackers and underperforming because of it most of the season. They are not a bad team. Jax is and was duly spanked! 10-5, not bad for a dartboard. wink
Rick

I had that one totally wrong, nice win for SD. They were talking a lot about the injuries, having to go with backups to the people who were already backups, and one guy on the offensive line that just flew into SD a few days ago. They will need to get healthy in a hurry if they expect to advance past the first playoff game. I was especially happy for Rivers, he has taken  heat for some of the bad losses. He's one of our Alabama boys, hailing from Athens,AL which is about 30 miles north of Huntsville.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

What they said was very true Tres. When a reject from the Chiefs can walk on and make a  big difference, you get an idea of how bad things on the O line were. Rivers problems have been zero time to play from the pocket. His interception rate was high because he was forced to make throws to survive. He was lucky to escape injury this season.  The Chargers will not make the playoffs barring a miracle.

is what it is George, Skins are going to get somebody good out of the draft even if it's not #1. I went 7-7 picking with the line yesterday, cheers and geers once again.
Carolina - cheers, I had that one
Miami - cheers, another winner
Atlanta - jeers, what has happened to their offense and how do you lose to a 3rd string QB?
Chicago - jeers, where is Bill with some sort of explanation? big_smile
Dallas - jeers, really?

SD is a 3 point favorite tonight, but on the road. sad Sorry Rick, I'm picking JAX and predicting they will win it straight up.

Tres

I went for JAX tonight too, though I certainly won't be staying up for the game.

Yeah Bill, come and tell us if there's any truth to the bizar rumor that the Bears are seriously considering asking old #4 if he still feels like throwing a ball? roll

The Bears problems are simple. Jay Cutler is out for the regular season and Caleb Hanie, although he may be capable with some experience, is not there yet. 2 games with 3 interceptions each is very tough to overcome. Add to that the loss of Matt Forte and the Bears are about to implode. I pretty much called "season over" as soon as Cutler was lost for the year.
Rumors abound regarding first Favre and then McNabb. The Bears are committed to what they have in the QB position and will not sign someone as a stop gap. It would take a new QB until the end of the year to learn and get comfortable with Martz's offense. Unless Hanie turns things around quickly, we'll be watching the playoffs instead of playing in them.

Great "tongue in cheek" article in the Chicago Sun-Times, poking fun at the debate about the Bears signing Favre. Evidently, Jim McMahon, who is 50, made an announcement that he would be willing to "listen to the Bears" if they made him an offer. Columnist Rick Telander noted that the Bears have NEVER expressed any interest in Favre (or McNabb) and that the rumors swirling about Favre and the Bears were created by the network talking heads. He pretty much said signing McMahon was as viable as signing Favre, i.e. they are both over the proverbial hill.

No, not me Rick, but it's amazing how many have already signed up to buy a "share". Amazing the amount of money that the Packers can raise just offering a sheet of paper. I guess it says a lot about fan dedication here. wink

On a lighter note, with possibly a Raiders connection... The touted and much yearned for canning of the Chargers head coach and GM has rumors floating of our GM Smith on a short list to head up the Raiders! Gee, I sure hope so. He'll do wonders for them.  lol
Rick

Well he does earn 2 Raider points for getting rid of Schottenheimer tongue tongue

You will have to keep informed of this because I'm not seeing anything about them interviewing anyone as of yet.

Right now, there has been a lot of unknowns happening for the Raiders and the Coach Hue Jackson is giving his input as to how to shape the team for now.  He has a lot on his plate, with so many unexpected and not good things happening.  The Raiders are riddled with injuries and he already picked up 2 important people with Curry and Palmer.  He's more than shown his team that he can handle adversities and has commanded a strong leadership role.  We started with Jason Campbell being our QB and now do to his injury, Jackson made a huge trade for Palmer.  He laid it all on the line.  He made a great pick-up with LB Curry.  My Favorite McFadden is out and Palmer hasn't been able to play with him.  It's like a triage with the Raiders, Jackson just has to fill holes with whoever is left on the bench.  He signed Lito sheppard and WhosyourDaddy.  So Hue has been coach and GM right now.  And this is a new offensive line for the Raiders. So with all that said, I am sad with all the injuries but very pleased in how he keeps this team together.  Richard Seymour has also been a great leader of the team.

So even though we got spanked by Miami, I am still pleased with the direction they are going and the pick-ups they made.

McFadden is out for Green Bay, hopefully Jones will heal for Green Bay and give us diversity in the running game.

I'll be rooting for them with my Tooz dog the rest of the way, all the way smile

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I'll keep you posted on any changes RiverCat. As I said, just what the local sports writer had up. Maybe it is just wishful thinking. Good luck with Green Bay, they can be scored on as the Bolts showed. I think if you can establish a ground game and eat the clock to keep Rogers off the field they can be beaten. We came close and should have had them but the injuries hurt here too.
My first two picks,
Green Bay over Raiders, they will keep the string going. Good luck RC but I don't think the Raiders have the ammo.
Denver over Bears, Tebow magic continues and the Bears have no offense. I picked Denver to win the division and nothing has changed my mind. I think they are peaking at the right time and may be headed to the SB, or at least deep into the playoffs.

I'm with Rick, I see both of these going the other way for the reasons Rick mentioned. Tebow and the Broncs are on  a roll while the Bears indeed appear to have no offense. I'll post my complete predictions later.
