Topic: Deal with devil

On the album Blues Deluxe, you mentioned making a deal with the devil about the speed of your index finger on the left hand. How do you make a deal with the devil? What does that involve? Do you actually see him?

. . . and if you do rent "Crossroads", don't get the one with Brittney Spears!  It's the one with Ralph Macchio, Joe Seneca & Jami Gertz.

Re: Deal with devil

I totally have no idea what you guys are talking about. Can you explain?

Nancy

I'm just saying.

Nancy, Robin explained in the first post, what Joe wrote in the liner notes of blues deluxe, and thats about all it says there.
I can't remember exactly if he actually told us this(that old forum had a few topics on the subject) but I am pretty sure Joe is bound by the agreement not to reveal the details. I haven;t seen the crossroads movie(s) and while I figure its along similar lines, obviously Joe's case is unique. I'm just saying...thats what I think.

You're kidding, right? Joe really said that in all seriousness? Or is that just one of those "blues things" that blues players say? It sounds like some kind of in-joke.

Now I have see this movie.

I'm just saying.

Re: Deal with devil

It was most certainly a tongue-in-cheek remark. One doesn't sell one's soul in exchange for remaining lesser known (and selling less records than) Britney Spears and/or American Idol contestants! Come on, folks!!!

I noticed that too......hmmmmmm........

Let's see, Robert Johnson supposedly made a deal with the devil and Joe indicates that he did too...........

........And, they both were born on the same date! Coincidence?

Or, as I prefer to see it, Joe is the modern day recreation of Robert Johnson. Robert never got to finish what he started, so Joe has picked up where he left off and continues on leading us to new places and heights. Was the devil really involved? Ultimately, I prefer to think of it as Robert and Joe have been blessed by a much higher power than someone or something as low as the devil.

P.S. Almost forgot, welcome to the forum Robin!

Amen Roy, that's why they call it a God given talent, the devil only screws it up. You can't bring up Joe's birthday as I did the first time we met to mention my son was born on the same day without getting a you know who else was born that day.

OMG!  I'm sorry if I scared you.  For the record, Britney Spears did not re-do the Crossroads movie we know.  About five years ago or so, I called our local Blockbuster and asked them to hold a copy of Crossroads for me.  My hubby was going to swing by after work and pick it up for me.  To my absolute horror, he brought home a copy of Britney Spears movie - Crossroads (completely unrelated).  He said he was wondering, why in the Hell I would want that movie, but "mama said", so he brought it home anyway.  I never did watch it.  About two or three years ago, when it came out on DVD he bought me a copy.

Britney's been looking for you...I think she wanted to thank the one person who purchased her movie.
