Here is the problem with threads like this.
"i dont really think it sounds close to a dumble although the tone was good......" - Really??? I must have bad ears...
"agree I use it as a tool for ideas............... but still nothing like plugging into a silver Jub, twinkleland, Carol Ann, Fender, Cat 5 etc etc" Ron I really hope you've played the Axe-Fx. I am going to assume you have based on a statement like that.
The Axe Fx is one of the best amps out there period. I would say that there is no one in this entire forum who could tell that someone was playing thru one if they went to a concert and there were no amps on stage and you just saw speaker cabs. Even Joe with his ear for tone would fail that test.
I would go further... I would say that if I asked you to come over to my buddies house and you could play your guitar thru an amp in another room and it was coming into a speaker in that same room that you would not realize you are not playing thru a tube amp. We all get so caught up in the aura of tubes because of the crap that has come out in the past (cybertwin, Line6 comes to mind) that we are unwilling to give an inch when talking about good tone and the chance that a computer could sound good.
We listen to demos online and think that because we are comparing a dumble clip with a axe-fx clip with our 100 dollar computer speakers that we are in a position to comment on this product.
Also I and most of the people dont have the ability to own a dumble, two rock, Van Weeden, Silver Jub, Fuchs or any other 3000 dollar amp... so in thinking about what kind of tool (cause thats what amps all are anyway) would be best for a working musician who would like some variety...
I would highly recommend the Axe-Fx as an awsome way to get amazing tone that can take you from fender to Marshall and just about every kind of expensive amp you'd ever need. And all for about 2500 bucks.
Happy Holidays...
You may now throw the stones.
