Re: RIP Hubert Sumlin

Sad news, got to meet him at 2 of Joe's shows in the past couple of years. A real gentleman especially with the ladies present. He was already a legend in the blues world.

                                                                                                RIP Hubert,

Re: RIP Hubert Sumlin

I am so saddened by this sad He was such a loving spirit, gentle soul, and TRUE blues legend. I'll take comfort in his advanced age as well as the accolades he deserved, and received, in recent years. He will be missed. R.I.P. dear man   Cathy

Re: RIP Hubert Sumlin

Had the pleasure to see him a few years ago with G.E. Smith at the OK Blues Fest in Tulsa. Great show. He played really well that night. RIP Hubert, you were a great man and guitar player. Get ready, Howlin' Wolf is taking the stage in 5.

Re: RIP Hubert Sumlin

Sad news.  Took my teenage kids to see the KWS Blues From The Backroads tour 4 or 5 years ago.  They saw Hubert and it had a big impact on their musical appreciation.  Glad they got to see a legend.  RIP.

That will be something they will remember for the rest of their lives, wish I had seen some or all of them on that tour. The DVD is excellent, but so many of them are gone from us now. Hubert will be remembered as one of those legends whose music and support of the blues stood the test of time, RIP Mr. Sumlin.

Re: RIP Hubert Sumlin

I never had the opportunity to see him play or meet him in person, but people I know who did meet him and whose opinions I respect all say that he was a prince of a man, a real 'mensch'. That's good enough for me.

RIP Hubert

I just saw a post on FB by Lance Lopez. 100% of Hubert's funeral costs are being picked up by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

I read that Keith had been covering Huberts medical expenses since he was diagnosed with lung cancer and had one lung removed around '02 or '03.
