TWELVE YEARS GONE
Amen...Can't believe it's been this long......I try to forget death days and celebrate birthdays...maybe there's just too many in my life.........There's one h#ll of a band in blues heaven!!!!!!
OWN THE IRISH TOUR 74 DVD
AND MONTREAUX DVD
GREAT STUFF
Yes Indeed Rory was one of the first stand alone true guitar virtuosos , and a very important part in the 60's/70's explosion of Blues/rock along with Jimi , Led Zep , Clapton and is sadly missed
But Hey just check out the dvd's mentioned here plus the live in Vienna DVD .... WOW
and as Bluesman rightly said our own Joe is the Torch Carrier for all guitar music loving folk
And one person on this forum who works tirelessly behind the scenes promoting and organising Rory Tribute's and , get togethers and Rory Fan re-unions is our own Lovely Annelies , infact she was Mrs Gallagher ! What a Blast that must have been
So Annelies lets celebrate Rory's talent with all on the 14th june , is there a show lined up , would love to hear a report or link to , or some old great stories............ and i know how much you love what joe is doing and it has given you a new lease of life like us all , Take Care Annelies............ Rory Did Indeed Rock My Friend
DVD is lined up for the 14th
................................ michael
Please get "Top Priority" by the late "GREAT" Rory Gallagher!
I just listened to Top Priority on the way home from work Sat., I'd love to hear Joe cover Off The Handle from that album. I always keep that one and Irish Tour close at hand.
RIP Rory,
J Dawg
"Passed over 12 years ago today. A fantastic talent and great bloke."
"Playing on stage with him in LA was one of the biggest thrills for me ever." Slash (Guns N' Roses)
"A beautiful man and an amazing guitar player. He was a very sensitive man and a great musician." The Edge (U2)
"It was all about him playing the guitar, it got into your soul." Cameron Crowe (Writer/Film Director)
"In the 70s he built himself a reputation as a live performer of tremendous vitality." "He was even headhunted to join The Rolling Stones." Niall Stokes (Editor, Hot Press)
"One of the things that was crucial for me I got from Rory Gallagher, which was the idea of, like, being a guitar player for life and living it." Johnny Marr (The Smiths)
"Rory's death really upset me. I heard about it just before we went on stage, and it put a damper on the evening. I can't say I knew him that well, but I remember meeting him in our offices once, and we spent an hour talking. He was such a nice guy and a great player." Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin
"So these couple of kids come up, who's me and my mate, and say 'How do you get your sound Mr. Gallagher?' and he sits and tells us. So I owe Rory Gallagher my sound." Brian May (Queen)
"Rory's death is a tragic loss of a great musician and a very good friend." Van Morrison
"The man who got me back into the blues." Eric Clapton
"An uncompromisingly serious musician" The Times, 16 June 1995.

Ok!
I've got a story for you. I've been embarassed to mention Rory, always wanted to bring him up, but there is a problem. Me and my stoner buddies from high school would go to S.F. every weekend. We caught all the monsters of rocknroll that came through, and we all know who they were back in the 70,s. Anyways it was around Nov.of 78 we bought our tix. to "winterland" in the city, I think it was a ice skating rink back in the 30's. The worst part of the city, you didnt lock your car, the junkies would break the windows out to steal everything.
The lineup that night was, Rory Gallagher, Rick Derringer, and I think Bob Seger. The embarassing part is I'm not sure about Seger. To this day, I can honestly say nothing has come close to the magic that night. Rory comes out, we never had heard of him until that night, this cat put in a blistering set, the crowd made him come out for two encores. Me and my friends were just blown away***who is this guy, wow!***. Derringer followed it with a set nearly as good, he encores once. I'm sorry if I'm not sure about Seger, but the headliner scorched the place too! It's been 30 years and nothing has come close for one night. Maybe one of you saavy computer people will get the headliner straight for shred. Anyways I ran this by JDAWG, seems he didnt remember the show. I know what your thinking the greatest gig shred has ever seen and he cant even get the facts straight, oh well thats rocknroll for a burnout! (LOL)

Humpin' Hannahs - wow - we have alot of stories to share on July 26th!
