Great game, tough one to lose Tres There is nothing between those two teams. It was on here and I watched it. Down to the last possession and a great shot. That half court prayer that clanked off the rim had your heart beating I bet.

It was a tough loss being at home, would not have been so bad if on the road. Yeah, that last shot by Bama had a chance to go, but the truth is we lost the game in the first half by giving up too many easy baskets inside. They were running those back cuts and driving to the basket for layups, defensive breakdowns that are not characteristic of this team. It gives us something to work on. On a positive note, Coleman Coliseum was sold out last night, they had all the support that they needed, no excuse there. They were a little quiet until the very end, then it got pretty loud when Bama started the comeback. I was happy that it was full to the rafters with an odd 8:30 start. On to the next one, OK State comes to town next week I think and the game will be in Birmingham at BJCC where Joe played on 11/29.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Indiana got a nice road victory over NC St wednesday and the Big Ten dominated the ACC in the Challenge.   Next week Kentucky comes to Bloomington and we'll find out just how far we've come.  This might be the best UK team under Calapari and it'll take an extraordinary effort to beat them.  tOSU also visits at the end of December and hopefully we'll give them some competition.
IU's starting to turn the corner to its former status as an elite program.  Coach Crean has successfully closed the door to other teams recruiting our state's best players.

yeah Scott, I watched most of that game and looks like Tom has them turned around. Good win over a decent Mark Gottfried team, the former Alabama coach. I believe that KY also gets the tarheels next week. I hope IND can give them a good game as well.

that doesn't seem right Dawg, you get to pull for both sides? big_smile I suspect that deep down you want to see a good game, but have OSU maintain their #2 ranking. just guessing........

They aren't playing each other unless they meet in March. It's just a case of being born a Buckeye fan and growing up in the East Bay and becoming a Cal fan as well.

Todays UK/NC match up should be a classic.  The trash talk coming out of Lexington will make it entertaining.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Trash talk or no, great game! UNC on the skids. Where's #1? She should be crowing.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Rebels are now 8-1 losing 70 to 89 I didn't see the game all i know is one Wichita player scored 31 pts on us, thats bad. I don't know if we will still be ranked after this game. The boys will have a long trip home. I will try to make it to Wednesday’s game to cheer them on against Cal State San Marcos.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Aztecs took down Cal by a point. They now have won 8 straight against Pac12 teams.  A well earned rest now after a tough series of games against very good teams. A string of easier opponents is coming up. They should be 12-2 at the end of year.

Re: NCAA Basketball

My Tide was eaten up last night by the Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team that is the Dayton Flyers. Down 17 in the 2nd half, we cut it to 4 with about 7 minutes, and then they hit 2 quick back to back 3's and it was all downhill from there. Dayton's play this year is hard to explain, they won their earlier tournament over some very decent teams, then went on a losing streak and I mean some bad losses. But credit to them, they hit that 3 ball last night and Green for Bama had to sit (again) for much of the first half having 2 fouls. My son related something one of the Alabama announcers had said during a previous game, "Jamychal Green was born with 2 fouls". lol

Re: NCAA Basketball

Hi Liz,
I hope you're right and the series stays.  I think Crean has done a good job gettig IU back to where it once was and we will be a scary team starting next year.  I can't tell you how impressed I am about this year's UK squad.  They may be the best team I've seen in 20 years.  I hope tomorrow's game ain't a blowout and we make a statement that the rivalry's still alive.  That would be good for college basketball.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Don't know why but I can't shake the feeling we might upset the Cats today.  Two great programs with 12 National Championships and finally a game that means something again.
Hey, if UNLV can get the job done against the Tarheels then why not the Hoosiers.  On today at 4:15 cst on ESPN.  You all might want to catch it.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Great finish and IU should've won this game.  Calipari got out-coached at Bloomington and the best team won.  Woohooo!   Indiana is back and I'm watching the game again.  Does anyone have an opener?

Well # 1 & # 2 fell this weekend! Gotta' love NCAA Basketball smile Curby your feeling was right about the upset, and no worries IU is back. UK's 1st game of the season in a hostile environment (previous games this season on neutral or home floor) and the Hoosier faithful let them know it. We had poor rebounding missed free throws (if Lamb had made his 1st it would have been overtime) Jones should have just stayed in Lexington, only 4 points & 1 rebound just poor execution all the way around. Post game interviews said the last time out was all about fouling before the shot since we had 2 to give and as you can see from Curby's clip, this did not happen! Hopefully this young UK team took away some valuable lessons from this loss and will make use of them going forward to conference play and March.. Congrats Curby great game and win by a great IU team smile

Liz,
Thanks for the congrats.  Your Cats will learn from this and I don't doubt they'll find their way to this years finals.  If you look at the clip again you'll see why Kentucky was unable to foul.  Watch the pick Cody Zeller put on Teague.  A Tarheel friend called after the game and asked if he could trade Zellers lol.

Congrats to IU Scott, what a great game to watch. I also noticed that pick at the end that stopped at least one foul, but they had another chance before throwing it out for the 3 pointer and blew it big time. I don't know if I agree that John was outcoached by Tom, he said "we tried to give it back to them.......". Indiana gave up so many points right at the rim, they could not cut off any KY players in the 2nd half coming to the basket. This is what makes college basketball my favorite sport next to college football.
But what happened in the Xavier vs Cinncinnati game really made me sick. Gangsta thugs on both teams, jawing away at each other and the refs did little to settle anybody down. I thought that Yates and the guy that kicked Freese should have received no less than 10 game suspensions. The Xavier coach made some great apologies afterwards, but they seem a little hollow now. We do remember what happened to Blount at Oregon, just totally dismissed. Xavier has a pretty good team, they are not going to dismiss anyone for the year. Totally uncalled for, as Ditka's NFL segment goes, "STOP IT" !!!
Bama improved last night with a win over high scoring Detroit, a good team with some impressive wins. We shut down their 3 ball, a lesson learned from our previous loss, and Jamychal Green had a great game while staying out of foul trouble.
