Topic: !!!(NGD)!!! My new Gibson R8

Hi everyone,

I just had to share this. I've been stuck in a slump for far too long and needed something to reboot my playing. Just need some inspiration, you know... So I've been GASing for a cherry sunburst LP. My first electric was a Japanese sunburst LP copy way back in the late 70's. I still remeber how much I loved that guitar.

Anyway I tried a few different LP's and finaly decided it was going to be an R8. A plain top with kind of that Jimmy Page vibe going on. So as soon as I found this one I knew I had to have it. I haven't felt this kind of connection to a guitar in a long, long time.

It's a 2005 that has a mild VOS treatment. The best part is it has a set of aged Sheptone AB pickups and real bumble bee caps. OMG!!! These are the best sounding pickups I've ever heard. If you in the market for pickups give Sheptones a shot, they're worth it. As well the stock Burstbuckers and caps came with it all for $2400 Canadian. Here's a few pics...

I gonna go back to playing now big_smile
Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Very nice indeed!

I really like the plain top and the aging will actually grow on you in time if it hasn't already.  The best part is if you ding it so what, it's aged…trust me.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Thanks guys, I fell in love with the plain top and the aging as soon as I saw it and I bought this one to be a player. No case queen here, if it gets a few battle scars so be it. Honest playwear is cool big_smile

I've got a 2005 R-8 in Tobbaco Burst, amazing guitar. It has more tone and attitude than any guitar I have ever owned. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Re: !!!(NGD)!!! My new Gibson R8

Congrats on the new guitar. It's so cool when you can really connect to a guitar. Good luck with it.

Love 58's....how much does it weigh?

Re: !!!(NGD)!!! My new Gibson R8

Hey,
Thanks for all the replies. This is my first Custom Shop Gibson. I've had many standard production Gibsons before and the quality's been very good. The Custom Shop stuff however is on a higher level. As soon as I can swing it I'll be buying another one. I've played more in the last 2 days than I have in the previous 2 weeks. It's that good.

It's just a little over 8  3/4 lbs. A perfect weight, not too heavy. The guitar has incredible sustain. As soon as I played it unplugged I knew it was a keeper. It's so resonant you can feel the notes ringing.
