Anybody else as surprised as I am at the Saint's mayhem and destruction last night?

George,
I have to tell you point blank, I was HAPPY to see the Saints come marching in.  Anytime, anyplace that the Giants get beat is a good day in my book and it makes going to work easier with my 2 Giant fan employees. (one who is a faux fan who switched allegiance because of being an animal lover. Don't go there, I know you hate on Vick too)  hmm

Now that I told you how I really feel, carry on my wayward...friend... smile

I could care less about the Giants, Angela. I'm a Skins fan, for my sins. I was bemoaning the entirely unnecessary win in Seattle which has destroyed any hopes of the Suck for Luck stakes.  neutral

Sorry George, Colts have a lock on it.

Well Cat in these mucked up economic times I think the NY approach of a shared facility makes the most sense for the Raiders & Niners. It's worked for years back there and both teams still refer to themselves as New York, even though they play in Jersey. Santa Clara has cleared a number of hurtles to swing a stadium deal and a joint venture might seal the deal. As far as the A's situation goes there's nothing I'd rather see than a waterfront stadium in or adjacent to Jack London Square in downtown Oakland. I have a better chance of winning the lottery than that scenario happening nowadays. Just last week KNTV 11 in San Jose showed an artist rendering of Cisco Field planned to be built next to HP Pavillion in downtown San Jose. The only thing holding back this plan is the Giants relinquishing there MLB approved fan rights to the South Bay. Do the math, San Jose is further from SF than Oakland, but once upon a time the league allowed SF the rights to the Peninsula and South Bay. That may have been a condition to letting the A's move here from KC back in '68. The dollars are in San Jose, but Bud "The Boob" Selig doesn't seem to want to deal with the rights situation, but maybe once he steps down, which can't happen soon enough, a resolution might happen. Pro sports are all about M-O-N-E-Y and they say money talks, BS walks. Silicon Valley looks like the logical solution for the San Jose A's, which actually rolls off the tongue nicely. I'm sure you're aware that Raley Field was built with easy expansion plans to accomodate the A's if Sacramento had been able to lure them to the River City. Unfortunately that never happened. I'd travel to Sacto. any time for baseball rather than south to the "Pit"

I love the idea of a Waterfront Stadium adjacent to Jack London Square.  I wish they had the money to do this because it would be such a great and beautiful addition to the city.  I think it would bring money into the city and would keep the A's, Raiders, or both teams there.  Where ever the A's go in the bay area, I will go.  But I think this is the best idea yet  big_smile

Seriously Jdawg, I don't see the Skins winning another game. Which leads me to my wishful thinking theory....just bear with me before y'all start laughing......

This last weekend's results vastly increased our chances in the great 'SuckforLuckStakes'!  tongue

All we need is for the Vikings, Panthers, Rams and Fins to each win another game....or two.....not an impossibilty considering their respective recent upturns in form.......while our form continues to nose dive to new depths of incompetence........while at the same time Peyton makes a miracle recovery after stem cell surgery in Europe, so that an ambitious kid like Luck will refuse to go there and sit on the bench for several more years. He'd surely rather go somewhere that needs him desperately and is willing to build a future sqaud around him.

And that, my friends, is how the Redskins could sneak a last minute score in the SFL stakes.  cool

The paycheck that comes with being the #1 pick makes riding the bench very comfortable, a crash course in economics that a Stanford grad would have no problem understanding.

I have a little bit of a different scenario for you Hammer.

I am just curious, the cat that I am.  What if the Colts do end with the 1st Pick?  What will they do?
If Manning decides to leave, will the Redskins make a play for him?

Hi George and others,

Since Washington won't get the first draft pick and we are assuming it will be Luck,  I will put this question up again?
Will you be willing to make a trade before draft day and who would you give up?  For George and any other teams that are interested?  Just a little fantasy football scenario wink

Re: The NFL - National Football League

The Skins have nothing the Colts would trade for other than lots of high draft picks. If Peyton's done Luck will have a horseshoe on his helmet next year. If Manning's playing days are over the Colts should pick Luck and make Peyton their head coach. They win with him calling the shots on the field, why not let him do it from the sidelines?

This is such a shock.  RIP Chester McGlockton.

He was doing so well as a coach and coached at Chabot as well.  So sad to see this.
From what I heard, I think he found his calling in coaching kids.  Just too young and a great loss.
This man endured a lot of pain but still wanted to be out there to help the kids.  They won't forget you Chester.

My condolences to his wife, family and friends

On a lighter note, with possibly a Raiders connection... The touted and much yearned for canning of the Chargers head coach and GM has rumors floating of our GM Smith on a short list to head up the Raiders! Gee, I sure hope so. He'll do wonders for them.  lol

Carolina at Tampa Bay
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Atlanta at Houston
NY Jets at Washington
Indianapolis at New England
Oakland at Miami
Denver at Minnesota
Tennessee at Buffalo
Kansas City at Chicago
Baltimore at Cleveland
Dallas at Arizona
Green Bay at NY Giants
St. Louis at San Francisco
Detroit at New Orleans
MON, DEC 5
San Diego at Jacksonville

There were lots of obvious choices, but I'm willing to concede that there are some real close calls too. I hope I don't offend all my California friends here by going against the Raiders and Chargers, they could just as easily both win. I think the Fins are on a roll despite that one point loss last week. I'm taking a chance on Buffalo too. I think the Tebow fairy tale will continue.....

Two of those 'obvious' choices were the Bears and Cowboys. sad

Nice to see my gut was right about Tebow and the Fins though. My Skins were in danger of actually winning a game by being the slightly less awful of two truly poor teams when they held a 16-13 lead late in the final quarter. True to form, they managed to find yet more ingenious ways of shooting themselves in the foot and gave up three TDs in the last four minutes. roll

Tebow looks like a quick study. He gets better each game. It is not  fairy tale now.

is what it is George, Skins are going to get somebody good out of the draft even if it's not #1. I went 7-7 picking with the line yesterday, cheers and geers once again.
Carolina - cheers, I had that one
Miami - cheers, another winner
Atlanta - jeers, what has happened to their offense and how do you lose to a 3rd string QB?
Chicago - jeers, where is Bill with some sort of explanation? big_smile
Dallas - jeers, really?

SD is a 3 point favorite tonight, but on the road. sad Sorry Rick, I'm picking JAX and predicting they will win it straight up.

Sorry folks. The Chargers are an injured team playing third string linemen and linebackers and underperforming because of it most of the season. They are not a bad team. Jax is and was duly spanked! 10-5, not bad for a dartboard. wink
