Topic: Can anyone chime in with some info on this guitar Joe is playing?..

Saw someone on TGP post this pic from a recent JB concert today:

I know that Joe has a custom 'Lyrebird' LP with this headstock, but I thought that guitar had 2 humbuckers.  This one only seems to have the one.  Is this the same 'one off' that Gibson made for Joe, or another new one introduced to the line up?

Custom shop job.  discussed here many moons ago.  LP body, FB headstock.

Yep.  custom shop job with a single pick up.  The guitar is dubbed the "bonabyrd"

It is a one off the Gibson custom shop was nice enough to do for me... They call it the Bona-Byrd....... cool

May have missed it.....didn't see the Bonnaburst in Louisville, but have every show I've been to even as recent as Cleveland.  Everything ok with her....or just rotating in and out?

Thanks everyone for the replies.  It's no doubt a cool guitar.

That longer Firebird style headstock makes it look like a longer scale/baritone guitar doesn't it?  I wonder how it compares tonally to Joe's other normal LP's.  The fact that there is no neck pickup routing would add to the body mass and change the resonance at the neck/body joint I would imagine.

I'm also waiting patiently for the JB 59 reissue.  I met Joe the other day and, although his guitars are not in the "beauty of the burst" book he was kind enough to show me who he bought them both from (pictured in the back of the book)....and pointed out one of his that appeared in the photo with the previous owner.

I think it's cool too. Like stated above, I would also purchase one for $1600.

btw Love that top on the 59 you have. Saw the pic you posted in another thread. You couldn't have matched the books cover guitar if you made it yourself! Perfecto!!!

Thanks!  I felt kind of silly carrying a guitar around when I could have just brought the pick guard ....but figured what the heck...  He seemed to dig it.
