Re: In Search of my missing friend

I agree. I believe that offering a reward is the only way that it will surface. Amnesty too.

One thing that always puzzled me was why Tarzan didn't have a beard.

Re: In Search of my missing friend

Reward and Amnesty! Yes, if stolen...but there's also the chance it got lost in transport If you travel at all you know the odds....I think a set time for a group prayer/ritual/whatever you believe moment could be powerful....You would be JB's best new friend if you found it..............

Re: In Search of my missing friend

How about pictures on Milk cartons?? Amber Alert?? (color-wise this would sorta make sense) Handing out flyers on every streetcorner in Europe and the states??
(sorry, don't want to trivialize the Amber Alert thing...obviously a guitar - even this one - can't compare to a missing child...but dammit, there should be some national system for guitars that have been abducted!)

....and then put a REAL ax head on those Gene Simmons "Ax" guitars and I'll supply the blood and the coffin, which won't hold the guitar.....I'll show a guitarwrangler how to get a head start....

Re: In Search of my missing friend

Bill. In all seriousness, why ISN't there an international registry? Sounds like a great idea, even if each manufacturer had a section on their own site. I e-mailed web master and asked for the Gigliotti to be the cover shot to this web site with missing! And I'll gladly pitch in for a reward! Maybe we need t-shirts? And Street team or fans to hand out flyers is a great idea. There's lots of musicians here who frequent guitar shops.. May the Force be with us.....

YOU KNOW!?

It would have been REALLY NICE to have it listed as missing on the cover of Vintage Guitar magazine. Almost everyone in the guitar collecting world would hear its missing then.

Re: In Search of my missing friend

Maybe the new one should have a GPS tracking device hidden inside it so Joe will know where it is at all times! lol

OR big ugly obnoxious guitarguards that know martial arts and bite-hey pack 'em in a cage and they tour with Joe but fly in baggage (hmmm I'd go for it but I like first class too much)!

Re: In Search of my missing friend

I've started searching around to see if it pops up for sale somewhere.  Instant notification if it does.

Re: In Search of my missing friend

Actually, I remember seeing recently that one of the guitar manufacturers would, for an additional fee, put some sort of IC chip into the guitar that could be positively ID'd as belonging to the owner, but I don't think you could track it.  I believe it was Carvin, but don't quote me on it.

Having had a rare, out of production PRS stolen twice, recovered once, I am a bit sensitive about this topic <grrrrrrr>.  I missed it by about a week in a used guitar store because a friend misremembered the details, but told me in passing "I thought that might be your guitar, but it didn't have the (trademark PRS) bird inlays."  Unfortunately, neither did mine.

As a consolation, my ex bought me a prettier, more expensive one, but the tone doesn't quite match the old one.  Oh well.  It's only a material thing but I still miss her.

Hmmm....maybe I oughta design the Batmobile of guitars...RFID trackable, biometrically lockable, with identifiable friend or foe feature (really possible for wireless output use) while surreptiously gathers eveidence to be used in a court of law...
