Topic: Xotic RC Booster

Anyone using an Xotic RC Booster?  I had one and I sold it, and now I regret it.  One of the best stacking pedals I have had.  No matter what overdrive pedal I ran it in front of it, it just gave me more of the overdrive pedal with a touch more gain and some good sustain.  It also sounds good by itself into a clean tube amp.  Puts a little hair on it and fattens everything up. Great boost pedal.  Maybe similar to a compressor pedal but with no squashing.  I think I better get off the forum and get on ebay.

I've got one.  Didn't like it at first.  Now I couldn't live without it.

Re: Xotic RC Booster

Funny...I had one and sold it as well. It was great for intimate stuff but was kind of useless to me live if that makes any sense. I do miss it however....

Re: Xotic RC Booster

It shines in a band setting, IMO. There's no better low gainer out there. For straight up boost with no added distortion, I like the EP Booster. The Timmy is also good but I prefer it for medium (AC/DC, SRV Dirt) gain.

For situations that require just a bit more subtlety and i hint of SS clipping, the RC Booster is wonderful.

It also does very well in bringing rhythm parts to the forefront. It adds a presence that complements rhythm parts beautifully.

Re: Xotic RC Booster

The EP booster is great...it just gives you your tone, but more of it (if that makes sense). Apparently it's based on the preamp of the old solid state EP3 Echoplexes that Page, Eddie VH and many others used back in the day to goose the front end of their amps (along with occasionally using the actual echo function too)...
