Topic: Gibson Midtown Custom

Hey everyone-

Not sure if you all have seen this yet, but Gibson came out with the new Midtown Custom. Its chambered mahogany so its like a Les Paul - ES hybrid. I've heard some very good things about this, and with a street price of $1500 (new) you can't beat it. I was in Sam Ash today trying out an ES-339 (LOVED IT) and the guy who worked there said that these guitars are absolutely fantastic. I just wish that it came in red.

Re: Gibson Midtown Custom

I'd like it if it had a rosewood fingerboard. Otherwise, I think they've hit the mark (almost) with a reduced size body.

Re: Gibson Midtown Custom

The ebony one is really sleek.  I'm not wild about the 339 body, but overall based on looks, it is sharp.  It is at a good price point I suppose, unusual for any new Gibson other than the SG standard.
