Like Trampled Under Foot, I found out about this great band from friends in the UK. A Very talented band. I'm going to forego the enthusiasm and just provide the vids.

Been hearing good things about this band. The guitarist is Swedish I think and the vocalist is from New Jersey. They've been gigging over here but I think they're based in LA. I really like 'em.......methinks a CD purchase is a-coming

Maggie, Roger and I saw VT doing a half-hour slot with Marcus Bonfanti (not together) at St Pancras Station in London last week. They were excellent and really worked the crowd of mostly commuters going home. I guess there were a few of them catching later trains that evening. A really fun band and definitely worth catching when you can.
Duncan (Greenose) recently interviewed them for Blues Matters so that should be worth looking out for in a month or so.
Become a Troublemaker and spread the word.
Good band but im not convinced about all the hype surrounding them at this time.
Played a good set but after three songs my mind started wandering about at the crowd seeing who was attending. Time will tell
Maybe not your usual fare, Roger, but they are a breathe of fresh air at the moment and hark back to the old RnB bands of the past.
If anyone in the UK orders the Bombshelter Sessions CD from Amazon before the official release date of 25th July they'll receive a 5 track CD too. Great value at £8.93 and free delivery. Not so good in the States, heowever, as it's not released until 2nd August on the other side of the pond and it costs a whopping $24.49 and no free shipping. If you do buy it Stateside, make sure you select the 2 CD version as there are two showing on Amazon.com with one having only 1 CD.

Really like what I have seen on TV and YouTube, not caught them live yet. We were going tondo a gig with them at Manchester but it didn't quite happen, real shame.
Been checking out their website.........ordered the album (thanks for the heads-up about Amazon Phil) and signed up as a Vintage Troublemaker

Saw them in Inverness last night to a packed venue. They are a good time band (some of the audience were dancing a lot) and reminded me of a modern day James Brown meets the Commitments without the horns. "Mustang Sally" wouldn't have been out of place. I enjoyed them, especially the lead guitar breaks but I doubt if I would go and see them again.

We saw them on Monday in Stoke at the invitation of some friends. I'd seen them on TV and watched a couple of youtube vids and thought they looked pretty good and worth a shot. They played a 90 minute set and to be honest I'm agreeing with Roger - after 3 or 4 songs each song sounded just like the last and I was losing interest, as was Mrs Icon. I was expecting the James Brown experience from what I'd seen but to me the singer's voice was lacking in range and became a little monotonous. The band provided solid if not spectacular backing - kudos to the bass player, who I felt really did the most to lift the music with some real funky grooves. They had a few clearly devoted fans there and it all got a bit evangelical with an excess of call & response and animated handclapping antics led by the singer. The faithful lapped it up, but like you Kenny, I doubt I shall be rejoining the congregation.
Mrs Icon thanked me for spoiling her with the bands I usually take her to see, so the night was not lost

Yeah, I forgot to put that in my post Ian. At times the singer was like a preacher with the faithful which I didn't take to. I left before the encores as I had had enough and my wife was in the hotel across the road and I was needing a decent pint.

Greenose, it has nothing to do with the 'success' ratio aquitted to them, I just think personally they are not that great. I have seen them and sorry but you cannot like everything, i like to think of my musical taste to be very broad, so this 'blues audience' argument just doesn't cut it with me. Wish them all the best though
OK Duncan – I get it – you like them – no problem. I’m pleased for you. 
I also have an opinion – it may differ from yours, but this is a discussion forum which would be worthless without opinions being aired. I WAS looking forward to this gig and in particular the vocalist who was drawing comparisons with James Brown. I WAS disappointed. My intended humour in the remark about the faithful lapping it up clearly went over your head, but at least Kenny got it so I know it’s not just a particularly Scottish trait.

As for your comparison to Mr Eck, perhaps you would like to find my comments in the thread his review generated before you call “horses for courses”. You’ll struggle, as I didn’t comment against him in any way as I uphold his right to an opinion too. Had he posted those comments on here, I could have better understood the furore, but he didn’t. Frankly, as Joe’s audiences and public profile are getting bigger, I have no doubt that there will be still more critical reviews ahead for him – that is “horses for courses”.
I was prepared to go out and support live music and give these guys a shot – they are ok, and will undoubtedly continue to attract an audience – good luck to them. Just not my (brand new) bag. You pays your money and takes your chance eh? Well I do anyway…

Duncan - I made the 2 hour trip to see them with an open mind and I agree that they are very very good at what they do. I appreciated and enjoyed their performance up to a certain point but I admit that my attention did wander for some of the time. I didn't expect the venue to be so busy so kudos to the band for what they have achieved in a short space of time. When I left before the encores, I seemed to be in the minority
Like Roger (and others) I have a wide taste in music. This week I am going to see Glen Campbell (in Aberdeen), Joanne Shaw Taylor and Alter Bridge. The following week it is Beth Hart, Tyketto and Magnum. So on my travels again to experience live music (its a bit of a hobby )

Maybe a better way to phrase it is to state that your opinions on each occasion appeared to be in the minority.
Maybe if they did I would - but I don't know that they were so I'm not. It's inconclusive. I'd say about 20 - 25% were visibly enraptured and getting involved, I've no idea what the rest thought. All I know is more people were heading for the exit than the merch stand.
And saying he is influenced by Otis Redding (who sits proudly in my "blues audience" music collection) don't mean he sounds like him. I mean.......... I'm influenced by Joe Bonamassa right 
Like I say - good luck to them. Anybody who gets people off their backsides and into live music venues is doing us all a favour.

Merch stand was pretty swamped in Edinburgh. Maybe it's you English (or half English - Ian) who are tight fisted! Certainly agree with the last bit. Just back from a Buddy Whittington show, which was pleasingly well attended. Maybe there's hope after all!

Not re-opening the discussion, but I saw these guys back in August and if you have a nostalgia for the halcyon days of Northern Soul, Wigan Pier and the like, then this is the band for you. I can't say too much about the show I attended, a hot, packed Cluny was not the place to be while recovering from a nasty bout of food poisoning. I'd give them another chance, but maybe next time round - I've a feeling they'll be frequent visitors over here, especially after the Classic Rock award.
