Topic: Joe's Two-Rock to Van Weelden switch ? How come ?
Recently saw him live, and noticed that he uses 2 Van Weelden amps nowadays, instead of a Two-Rock for his lead tone.
What was the reason for this change ?
Thanks !

Gear dyslexia!! Well not really, Joe moves amps in and out. Carol Ann's, Two Rocks. VW's, Cat 5's, Marshalls... he has a collection and uses them! Whatever he feels is going to bring inspiration that day. Hey JB, sorry to speak for you but I am pretty certain that is the deal
I thought Joe had slightly different rigs depending on where he is playing(I think he says in a musicradar interview that he has a US and European rig which he leaves in each continent to cut down on shipping costs) . In the US I thought he uses a Silver Jubilee, Cat 5, Carol Ann and a Van Weelden(recently it seems he's using 2 extra jubilees in the US), while in Europe he uses another Van Weelden instead of the Carol Ann.
i thought one was a US rig and the other was kept in Europe
I think Joe has so much gear he's not even sure what the idea is anymore.
Joe has custom D20 dice made with gear manufacturer names on each face instead of numbers.
It's a bit like a Dungeons and Dragons game before each gig. He rolls 4 dice for the amps, and about 8 dice for the guitars. Whatever names come up, his tech has to run out the back, fetch and assemble the gear...
...or maybe not...

At Boston Wang Center he had two Marshall Silver Jubs, One Carol Ann, One Van Weelden, One Catagory 5 Joe B 68 and a black Marshall Jubilee all going through 3 Marshall large cabs. I added a link to the pic of his rig, last bunch of photo's

Joe just likes to tantalize the gearheads when they think they've figured out his secret.
He just threw down the gauntlet and said, "I raise!" Care to call?
Rick
It probably just sounds best in that configuration to him.
