Re: A message from Curby

Hi,
Heard from Scott earlier today, his wife's surgery is scheduled for this coming Thursday: I'm sure I speak for everybody when I say all the hopes and thoughts expressed on this thread will be multiplied many times and passed on.

Can I just say, what an amazing bunch you are; Scott and his wife are really fortunate to have so many good friends in their corner at this dark time. Thanks, everyone of you.

Re: A message from Curby

I'd like to thank everyone in the forum for their kind wishes regarding my family.  My wife's surgery went well today and hopefully she can avoid radiation treatments.  I thank God for listening to the people praying for us.  We are very, very blessed.

Re: A message from Curby

Sigh of relief Scott. Continued best coming your way.

Re: A message from Curby

Hi I obviously don't know you, but I went through this a good number of years back with my wife and at times like this you need friends no matter where they are. All the best and everyone is wishing you both well.

Re: A message from Curby

After a bit of a rough start things have settled.  We find out today if she's cancer free and we only have positive thoughts.  Not me, but Mitzi is on facebook and if anyone cares to drop her a line her full name is Mitzi Ferderber.  Thanks to everyone for your support.

Re: A message from Curby

Got some good news and some bad news today.  The good news is there wasn't any cancer found in her lymph nodes which was our biggest worry.  The bad news is the cancer removed didn't have the required margins of good tissue (1cm vs 10cm) that's necessary for no further treatment.  She now has to undergo seven weeks of radiation on her face.
She's pretty down tonight at the thought of yet another battle, tired of being brave and putting on a happy face.  Of course she'll suit up and kick som a##, but it gets old sometimes.  If some of you are on facebook and want to say any encouragements to her I'd deeply appreciate it.

(Sorry, I don't mean to come over like some kind of Dr. Phil, but I do sadly have considerable personal experience to draw on here.)

This news is more good than bad as I understand it! What eventually killed my wife after four years was the fact that her lymph nodes had already been affected when her cancer was first discovered. Clear lymph nodes is GREAT news, it means the cancer has not (and likely will not) spread. This means it's treatable! Radiation will be like an unpleasant sunburn - there are far worse things to put up with. Keep your spirits up, both of you!

I'll write to Mitzi on FB too.

Re: A message from Curby

Continued progress is still in our thoughts and prayers Scott. I sent her a ms on fb. A relief to hear the prognosis is optomistic. Hang tough, she can lick this.
