Topic: NEW (TO ME) 59 REISSUE

HOOOLLLYYY COW BATMAN!  LOOK AT THE TOP ON THAT.

I feel so fortunate to be able to get this guitar.  It's not a closet queen but to me that's a good sign....somebody loved it...played it...made music with it.  My turn....sa-weet.  At 9lbs, it's a tad heavier than I wanted but I just couldn't deny the vibe of this instrument.  Unplugged it resonates like you would not believe....slightly more shoulder on the neck...  Me likey!

What do you guys think....  Let's make it fun....Please reply with pic's of your Gibson flame / quilt / gold tops!

Great color and ditto on the mineral streaks!

Re: NEW (TO ME) 59 REISSUE

SWEET !!!!!!! yikes  cool  wink

Re: NEW (TO ME) 59 REISSUE

I really think the mineral streaks give the guitar a cool "old" kind of vibe.  I had another 59 reissue that I, to my undying regret, sold a few years back so having this one will help ease the pain.   big_smile

Re: NEW (TO ME) 59 REISSUE

Duncans ....although I'm not sure which models.  Too bad you don't live closer.  Our friends could pay each other a little visit now and again.

I'm always leery of sharing my collection.  I don't want people to think I'm a braggart or show off, but in the spirit of sharing here are a few more of my friends.  My wife (aka "The Warden" as I affectionately call her on occasion), just rolls here eye's...  I've started to downsize but it's tough letting some of these friends go.

This is what 25 years of playing and collecting guitars gets you....lots of friends....and no closet space (sorry Honey)!

My Man Cave 1
My Man Cave 2
My Man Cave 3

As you can see...I'm into the low power stuff...  No 100 watters for me...the Warden (and neighbors) would make me walk the plank if I cranked up one of those bad boys.  I'm a huge fan of the vintage Fender tweed, brownface, and blackface amps....light, sound great, can go from clean to mean with my guitars volume knob, and most include my favorite effect ....the almighty trem.

Re: NEW (TO ME) 59 REISSUE

I never realised but I need a man cave like yours. Enjoy. You only live / play once. smile

We (us men folk) all need a man cave.  In my case it couldn't be better....my kids hang in there with me all the time.  I love it.  The Warden however is not a fan...but she love's me anyway  smile

Re: NEW (TO ME) 59 REISSUE

That sonic blue strat looks just my dads Strat!  I'm more envious of that big pile of amps in the room then some of the guitar you've got quite the vintage collection going on.  Very nice man Cave!

Thanks for the kind words.  I got into collecting vintage amps because the boutique replicas were the same price or more in some cases and there was no way I could ever scrape up the money for a nice vintage guitar from the same era.

Started out small with some really cool old tweed champs and blackface vibro champs.  It's actually turned into somewhat of a money making hobby.  As each year passes these amps become harder to find in good condition.  I've lucky to be able to buy low and sell hight so to speak...  Don't get me wrong...it's not a lot of money....just enough to keep the guitar slush fund liquid.
