Could very well be.  Put blame where blame is do...Hi my name is a Partial, and I'm a tone junkie in relapse.   neutral
It's been a year and a half since my last "episode"     smile

oops. not wind?? is a tweak or mod?  Have to search to see what part he played, if not just inspiration.  But love the sounds of the ones I've heard in Pauls.  Been fortunate to hear a few lately and liked them, too much.

Hopefully you can post a sound clip after you get them in. I would be curious to know what the DCR of each is as well.

Re: You're killin' me Joe!

Ok, excuse my ignorance a little bit. Is there actually a "Joe wind" WCR? If so, does it compare to any of the existing WCR's?
Thanks!
Shawn

Re: You're killin' me Joe!

I've been wondering how my Desert Burst will sound by yanking out the 490/498's and putting in a WCR's

from Their web site they state Joe has GoodWood's and DarkBursts.. and something called the SR (but that link is broken)

But I'm told that the American Steel Set is his best selling..
I'm sort of eyeing that one.

this is Jim's Quote:

Yeah, the numbers always freak people out on my stuff until they try them. If you listen to the Stormy clip on the Fillmores page, that is the bridge on about 8.8ish. It is a '58 Historic straight into a JTM45 modded with Mullards and JBLs. The Fillmores will have a slight mid to upp-mid bulge.
The American Steele set is by far my biggest seller ( probably 80%) with a Crossroads neck, Godwood bridge. If you think That bridge is too hot, go with the Crossroads-DarkBurst combo. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to upgrade to my electronics as well.

I really want to hear a clip when you get yours..
Which set did you go with?

---------------

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: You're killin' me Joe!

I believe the SR reference is to the single coils that WCR once produced (the SR is a nod to Stevie Ray I believe).

Re: You're killin' me Joe!

+1 tonepros bridge and aluminum tailpiece, all should be together next week...all total the $874 "makeover".  I hope it will be great in the studio, and live, although the Paul's don't leave the house much.

Re: You're killin' me Joe!

Ok...DougH to answer your Q...godwood and darkburst combo set

Wharris...Fluke says...9.1 on the bridge, 7.4 on the neck.  Very tight fit into the pickup cavity, was told the WCRs were a little "chunky". Still don't have the guitar yet.  My luthier has been really enjoying working on this guitar.  Hand (or ear) selected the nut out of many bone blanks the other night, that was fun.  He is going to carve and install.  This should be a show when completed!

Did you go gold covers on yours?  Had to complete the look, +$80, Jim's gold makes the new tone pros bridge and tailpiece look bad.  Hopefully will get my Paul back in the next few days.

WCR is the **##!

Jim winds a helluva bucker. Godwood/Darkburst is my favorite combo as well.
Just killer stuff.

Sweet!  My luthier is just teasing me now,  I know he is really taking his time on this re-worked old paul.  I feel like a crackhead that ran out of crack, knawing my fingers off like snickers bars in anticipation!
