Topic: Silver Jubilee

Hey guysss:)

Probably a stupid question but here goes...

I see a lot of people raving about how great the silver jubilees are and i see a lot of people that want them

My question is why don't Marshall start making them again? There's obviously a huge opportunity there for them

cheers!:)

Re: Silver Jubilee

Its not a stupid question !

I have one and I bought it to replace an old JCM800 2203 (man that was one loud mother)
anyway my honest answer is that although the silver jubilee is awesome sounding ,it is very dark sounding on its own, some like it some dont but makes a great amp for pairing  as Joe
discovered.  it also only does the one sound well . Marshall have made so many great amps and also the technology nowadays is far superior that I think it will remain in the past for Marshall . you can buy a Ceriatone clone that would be just as good .

Re: Silver Jubilee

Thanks for the replies!

CT - that's not a bad point actually - fingers crossed;)

SOFTMC - have you ever tried out the jubilee combo? If so how does that compare to the head?

Thanks!

Re: Silver Jubilee

No havent played the combo but it should be same circuit as the head, I have 50w 2553
but Joe swears by the 100watters.

That would be cool...  Let's just hope they don't muck around with the original design.

Re: Silver Jubilee

Silver Jub was an Anniversary thing, wasn't it 25th or 30th? so they only did it for a limited time.

Although the phenomenon blew up... it would be cool if Marshall just made a 50th Jub and bring the prices back down to earth.

Re: Silver Jubilee

I love my 2553 but I don't see Marshall bring them back. Its a one trick pony its great at that. I think the 50th will be a multi channel amp with some kind of power scaling and a few other new tricks maybe with programable EQ per channel. But I don't think they would bring out a Jub again for the 50th.

The Marshall Jubilee was also reintroduced in 1996 as the "Marshall LTD Edition Slash Jubilee 2555" . Never played one so I can't say much other than it looks just like the Black Jubilee's that were made from 1988 to 1990 after the 1987 Silver Jubilee year ended. Except it has Slash's signature on the front panel. That was the first time a signature other than Jim Marshall's appeared on a Marshall amp.
