You know, if this keeps up, Joe might even dig out his old Packer jersey and start wearing it! cool Nah, he probably can't find it anymore. Besides, that was 65 pounds ago! wink

it's OK to crow a little Roy, but they need to avoid the letdown game ala Detroit. Who is Joe? I was thinking about those uniforms they wore Sunday, UGLY as homemade sin. I know they were from 1929, but looked more like 1895. big_smile

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I hear you Tres about those throw-back uniforms, but you know what's weird about them? They seem to be faster in them than their regular uniforms. They've worn those in previous years and I felt the same thing then too.

After the game a number of the players were interviewed about their performance and the first 6 games and they all said that they aren't playing that well. They feel a real need to improve and feel they will. I think that's the best thing they can do and it's good that the players recognise that. No time now to sit back and smell the roses, that's for sure!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

normally Roy, I would say poppycock to GB being faster in those unis. But I saw a show last night about people designing unis for NCAA teams. What they think is that palyers respond to game situations better if they are wearing special unis, where they look in the mirror and say I look great in this and I'm gonna kick somebody's butt to the corner today. They have found it does boost the morale of the entire squad. Didn't help the ducks last year though. So the GB guys may just love those throwbacks.
Speaking of GB, on a sad note Gale Gillingham died today. Blocked for Bart Starr and others in those first 2 Super Bowls. You may remember Jerry Kramer, another great Packer OL. Well, you can check Gale's stats and pro bowls and whatever, but anybody that stood that close to Jerry must have been a hell of a good lineman. heart goes out to the Packer nation.

Well, there must be some snow in the forecast in a couple of weeks Roy. The game on the 6th has sold enough tix to avert our blackout. We'll have a warm welcome mat out. wink

Reported earlier that the Bills are offering Fitz $10,000,000/yr contract extension. He's the best QB to put on a Bill's jersey since Jim Kelly. Or at least Doug Flutie!  smile  Looks like ol' Ralph is finally opening up the pocketbook. Maybe shamed into it since the cash that's been flowing out of Terry Pegula's wallet into the Sabres' organization.  lol

I'll be glued, as usual, to the TV Rick. But first the guys need a week off to lick their wounds. A 7 and 0 start I'm sure has left a few aches and pains. Snow? Not quite down here yet, but up in northern Wisconsin they were predicting some earlier this week. Heck, I've still got some leaves on my maple trees and every year I find myself out there mulching them up with the lawn mower while that "whitish crap" comes down on me. roll Still, it would be hard for me to live anywhere else, I do love Wisconsin and of course, The Packers. smile

In typical Skins fashion, the guarded optimism of the early weeks has turned to ***t.  After Grossman's meltdown, Hightower out for the season, and Santana Moss out for 5-7 weeks, I am officially entering us in the Suck for Luck stakes, though I expect that that 'prize' will likely go to Seattle.  sad

The whip is coming down George!  tongue

The Bills have a deal with Toronto to play one home game a season up there. Kind of like the Sabres who draw a significant number of Ontario residents to their games. The hope was to pique more interest north of the border to help fill the 78.000 seat Ralph. In recent years while the Bills really sucked that was kind of tough. With Chan and Buddy running things now there is hope that they may actually make the playoffs this year!

does look like fun George, maybe we can try again this week. Son and I play this game every week, except we use the betting line. You only lost 3 if I counted correctly, I went 5-7 picking with the line. sad There were some huge lines yesterday, however the "lead-pipe" locks of the day all covered - Bills, Lions, and 49ers. Buffalo -4 was the monster bargain of the day.

Trick or Treat In K.C. for da Chargers???? Still knotted @ 20, 11:00 min. to a tie. Uh-oh Chiefs gettin' near field goal range!!! What a sloppy mess this games been.

Told my colleague at work, before the game, Chiefs by 3........
Told everyone Rivers would thow 3 interceptions.  He threw 2, but did not throw a TD pass.
I keep saying, it is goi g to be the team that can dependably run the ball this year...GB and NE may be the only exceptions and I wouldn't count on both in the Super Bowl...maybe neither.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Thankfully a nice night with the family at the daughter's house where there is NO tv watching Rocky Horror, much better that that Halloween horror. I'd have been gnashing my teeth again. So much talent and such poor results. I don't know what Rivers' problem is, there is rumor of injury or ? No one seems to be any good in the AFCW this season. It appears one team will limp into the playoffs by default and be one and done. hmm

'Bout choked on my bologna sandwich reading about the expansion team lol!  Just goes to show there's always somebody who has it worse.  I read this morning Manning plans to return in December.

NOT an expansion team at all, KC is back on track and Cassel looks very confident. I think that's 4 straight wins after starting 0-3, nobody is going to take them lightly after last night.

lol That was a gift and KC knows it. You should see the local papers this morning. I think the tar is bubbling and someone is making a run to the chicken farm. It was put right up there with the holy roller and Pisarchik's gaffe as one of the all timers. I think the Halloween Horror will live in the annals of Charger lore forever.   roll So many injuries now they brought up a taxi squad rookie to start at LB. Green Bay might as well rest the regulars and give the backup squad a shot next week.

The Vikings and the Dolphins both need a QB. Who will get Luck in the draft? And is one or both willing to go 0-16 to get him?
