Topic: Bugera amps

Hey All - just ordered up a Bugera V55HD head and matching 2x12" cab.  I wanted to get a small head/cab rig that I could put alongside my Blues Deville and have it set to a Marshall-type sound.  I've done my homework and I think it's a pretty good choice especially when you consider the price point (Euros388 all in!).  Plus if they're good enough for Lee Ritenour to endorse then it's good enough for me!

Just wondering if anyone else has had this rig and how they got on trying to dial in a 'Joe sound'?

Of course, would love to hear from Joe himself if he's used a Bugera amp ever.

Cheers - Dave

Re: Bugera amps

Here is a demo/vid I did.  I like mine, but I don't think you'll find too many people on here that are wild about them.  I too got it because it was cheap and sounded decent.  I've used it out a few times and it sounded great.  Overall, I like the amp.  I don't think you'll get a "Joe" sound out of it much, I dial it in to my liking.  Sounds good with a tube screamer in front, and the onboard reverb sounds nice, not too bright.

Re: Bugera amps

I say if your happy with what you got you can't ask for anything else.  Besides all the tones in your hands anyway.  Doesn't matter if its a cheap amp or a $5000 amp.  If you don't have the phrasing and the touch it won't matter.

Great demo.  Loving the tone you're getting there and based on that I think I've made a good choice.  As I mention on the UT clip, I would love to have heard how the amp cleans up when rolling back the volume on the guitar AND would also like to hear what the rig sounds like with an LP.

Actually, I think I'll put up a vid when I get my full rig put together with amp splitter and all - probably will have to hire a night at a local rehearsal studio to do it justice though, as I don't think my neighbours would stand for the dB's!  If and when I do I'll post it back here.

Cheers for the comments anyway - really useful.

Thanks for the kind words!  The amp will sound a bit chunkier with an SG or LP, it is a little thin with just a strat.  This amp seems to allow your guitar to give you most of your tone, which is good.

Re: Bugera amps

i have a V22 and it's a very sweet sounding amp for a very very reasonable price tag.

Re: Bugera amps

Nice demo, and playing! Sounds good with the strat.

Re: Bugera amps

Thought I'd give a quick update on the Bugera amp.  At the weekend I played it live for the first time (on it's own) - a little nervous to be honest, but it performed really well with both my LP and Strat.  I found I had to dial back the bass playing the LP as it was extremely boomy.  By contrast the Strat sounded fantastic - very clear bell-tones and it seemed a little brighter than my Blues Deville.  The drive channel sounded pretty sweet and rolling the guitar volume back cleaned things up nicely (this seemed to work a bit better with the Strat obviously as it's p-ups are less hot).

Overall very pleased indeed and I would recommend this amp/speaker combination thoroughly.  I've yet to test it out as a combination rig with my Blues Deville - when I do I'll report back and hopefully post up some video footage too.

Cool, glad it worked well for you!  You're absolutely correct, that amp does give a nice clear tone with a strat.

NPB-EST: THANKS A LOT MAN, I APPRECIATE THAT!
