Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

was really hoping for a Detroit/Milwaukee world series, but it will be tough for the Tigers to pull 2 in Arlington. Have to give catcher Alex Avila (University of Alabama) some love after the opening homer last night, he has been dreadfull at the plate in post season. He has been very consistent behind the dish.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

As a lifelong Rangers and Cards fan this will be the first chance I'll have to see them both in the series at the same time.  Will have to root for the Rangers (Old Senators) seeing as they haven't won it during my lifetime.

Whoever wins and advances, it is refreshing to see some new blood out there having at it. Each game has had some great moments and plays.

Did you ever see the Old Senators play?  Kind of like our Old (and younger) Senators play ball in Congress!  lol

I remember the Senators - saw them in the sixties with Frank Howard.  This has been fun watching four teams I like.  They should call this years WS the Blue Collar Series and ain't that great!
That said....GO CARDS!!!!

That boot by Hairston was one of the reasons he was traded away. Good bat but inconsistent defense. Maddening! (of course they almost went for the infield cycle after the wheels fell off) tongue

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Used to listen to the Senators on the radio.  More than once I heard back to back to back home runs by Del Unser, Mike Epstein and Frank Howard.  Saw them play the Yankees in the mid 60's with Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

LIFO, last in first out, a simple accounting procedure but how can anyone account for the postseason success of the Cards? some luck involved, but yeah they are hot. On paper (have not checked the Vegas line) it would seem Texas is the fav. I was torn as to who to pull for, but will have to take OUR National League champions, GO CARDINALS.

As much as I dislike the Cardinals, I cannot bring myself to cheer for Texas.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

just realized that I do have a slight connection to the Cards. We lived in North Little Rock back in the mid 60's, I was in jr high school. My parents would make us hit the sack around 9 or so, but would let me listen to the St Louis games on the radio. My fav team was still the pirates. These were special days with Bob Gibson and Tim McCarver and Lou Brock and company. It was also Jack Buck doing the announcing from 1961 to 1968 or 69.
But what I didn't know was that his partner during these years was none other than Harry Caray. No wonder the Cardinals-Cubs feud continues today.

Good grief! When will the fact that Pujols is locked in dawn on them? Folks were talking about the slugging Texas team but he's single handedly crushed them in thier house. What a power display! His teammates aren't doing badly either.
Moonshots even.
edit, I posted this in the 7th. Now he's Ruthian in the 9th. I've never seen the like.  yikes

Ruth, Jackson, Pujols! Pretty rarefied air he's breathing. After being panned by the press for not speaking, his lumber did all the talking for him. A night that will rise in the annals with each telling. Any baseball fan that missed watching that game will swear he did see it, to somehow bask in the reflection. Si, si senor. Viva Albert!
I don't see how the shellshocked Texans come back from that Alamo.  Go Cards

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I'm pretty sure I saw Nolan 'splainin' it to "W", but he still looked confused. LOL!!! Wonder what the Cards have left in the tank after last night, but they're flyin' high and 2 more wins would stage another celebration for the visiting team like last year.

I never doubted the Cardinals getting in to the World Series...we are full of surprises!
I wonder what Nyjer Morgan is tweeting about now? lol
