Topic: What is your favorite...

original song by Joe?

One thing that always puzzled me was why Tarzan didn't have a beard.

Re: What is your favorite...

Well... I guess I'll start this one off... I'd have to say for the acoustic award- that goes to PTHG.  As for electric, I'd have to say Pain & Sorrow- thats just an absolutely amazing song- great solo, interesting lyrics, and overall great music (as is Joe's entire catalog smile )

Re: What is your favorite...

Wow, tough question!
I'll go with Asking Around for You, but that could change in a week....or tomorrow

"Rock ON & Keep the Faith"

Re: What is your favorite...

At this point I can't seem to nail it down to one Joe original....the top choices are:
               I Know Where I Belong
               Miss You/Hate You
               I Don't Live Anywhere
               Around The Bend
               My Mistake
I'm not good at making a decision like this, because there is a favorite Joe song for different days,moods,etc....Joe, you make this decision hard for me, by being so versatile & talented......vocals play a big part for me....well, I'll just have to sit on these 5 for awhile........

Re: What is your favorite...

Of course P&S, The River!, Asking Around, all just off the top of my head.  But a song that speaks to me on a whole different level and has a very broad appeal is Waiting for Me off of SILT.  Joe is so diverse in his sensibilities and abilities that he's like the Michelangelo of music.

Re: What is your favorite...

Really love "Mountain Time".  Great lyrics, great composition...  Classic song forever!

Music is good for the Soul...

dude...Love that analogy!  "the Michelangelo of music!"

I forgot to add that I think my favorite (today!) would have to be Mountain Time, in all of its manifestations!

Great musicians have a language & vocabulary that transcends the usual barriers & touches us on a more primitive , basic & yet complex level....

Indeed hard to choose
Today I go for:

# The River
# Don't live anywhere
# Reconsider baby.

Re: What is your favorite...

Tough choices.  It really depends what day it is and what mood I'm in.  I also really like "Takin The Hit".  Didn't Joe write that one too?

"Listen to the melody cause my love is in there hiding"

Re: What is your favorite...

My vote goes to .... The River.

Or did I mean My Mistake?  But I really love Mountain Time as well .... and for sheer funkiness and coolness I'd vote for I Know Where I Belong.  It's too difficult to pick just one.  I'm with pattiluvsjoe on that one.

Re: What is your favorite...

I have a hard time decifering the originals from the covers... its not a problem - its just the blues family in general.
I literally have to sit down and look them up to see who might have actually wrote some of them. A comprehensive list "would be nice." Hit me up an email someone!

Andy whats yours?

I was gonna say Pain & Sorrow but I wasn't sure if that was an original. If so, that is my favorite. If not, Takin' the Hit is. smile

Re: What is your favorite...

Hmmmmm.  What song could it be?

I think a feel a drop of water. Oh it's gotta be, "THE RIVER" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I love the feeling and image the lyrics stir up and the lyrics match up so well to the kick axe slide of the music.  The intro so pivitol to the song.

Others after that would include:

Colour and Shape
Pain and Sorrow
Takin' the Hit
Sick in Love

"Holy Toledo"  -  Bill King   "Just Win Baby" - Al Davis  "The Autumn Wind" - Steve Sabol

Re: What is your favorite...

Color and Shape is gonna be a number one hit by some prodigy guitarist someday....
Pain and Sorrow is too hard for that guy.....
