Topic: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

http://www.fender.com/products/clapton

I saw this in their news letter email I get.  I think its pretty dang cool but I'm a clapton junkie.  New take on some very old designs.  What do you guys think?  They are not in stores yet but the Tremolux 12 watt amp is clearly a 57 deluxe with tremolo and a power attenuator.  I checked MSRN for both the clapton model and the standard reissue model and they are right around the same price maybe $100 difference.

I'm saving up for the Twinolux. It looks like a good amp.

Nice. I like the Buddy Guy clip, but....Why didn't they get Clapton to noodle around on it? I mean, it's his signature amp isn't it?

Look awesome, but fearing that price tag...

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

way overpriced.  for that price tag a Victoria or Swart would be better choices.

yeah, dozens of options out there, for nearly half the dough and doing the Fender thing much better than Fender itself.  Just my opinion, don't mean to offend, but as a company Fender always leaves a lot to desire with their marketing/prodction decisions. But then again, so do all major companies...

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

Has anyone seen a real price yet?  MSRN is always marked higher then store prices.  I was compairing a deluxe msrn price to the Clapton Treoluxe msrn price and they are within $100 making me think that the prices will be about $1000 for the champ, $2000 for the Tremluxe, and about $3000 for the Twinoluxe.  But I haven't seen any real prices yet.  The Twinoluxe is awesome.  You can attenuate the power and turn off one of its speakers for clubs that will get mad at wide open volumes.  I think the Champ is cool too, but when did he ever use a Fender Tweed Deluxe?  The Champ was basically everything in the 70's that he recorded.

Why would they pick someone with horrible tone?  In my opinion.

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

That Buddy clip made me NOT want to buy the amp...  lol

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

is this becoming a "hating on Buddy Guy" thread?  Let us remember his age, and that very few cats can still perform with his intensity!  A living legend.

There really is no need to get Clapton to demo these things.  We have all heard his horrible tone for the past 30-40 years, over and over again.  No rehashing of that car-wreck needed!

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

I just didn't like that sound. At all. End of.
I like the guys playing throughout the years.

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

Buddy, and Eric's tone is more famous and sought after then the average bear.  If its a car wreck, then I'd gladly sit in the passanger seat for the ride cool

Re: Eric Clapton Signature model guitar amps

Oh sure, but people also think the big mac is delicious.  just because several people have sought something, it does not make it great.  it makes it popular.  I will give props where props are due, and say the Beano record is awesome, the Cream records less awesome but still good tone (the highlights for me being the live portion of Wheels of Fire), and all else short of "From the Cradle" (which is an amazing record), pure garbage.  Now I am not trying to convince anyone here of this; just my opinion.  He is a great influence in many players and famous worldwide, rich beyond my imagination so he must be doing something to please the masses.
