is it my service or is this site running real slow today?

a hearty WELCOME to the site Chris, it's a hoot and a lot of football fans here. You have an SD compadre here in Mr RickB, but don't talk to Rocket because he'll tell you they suck. lol I hope they can play better than the KC effort, otherwise they may have a hard time just making the playoffs. Hang around, post often as you like, and enjoy all that is Joe.

Thanks for the welcome, Tres.  Yes, not too impressive last weekend and sadly game black out here for Sunday.   neutral

Welcome from a fellow Diegueno Stewart Chris. Once again we wonder which side will show up. I might listen on the radio, I'd rather spend my money on gigs.

Well, where are all you NFL fans?? I would have thought that there was more than enough to talk about after some of the truly amazing, unbelievable results yesterday - or are y'all waiting for the Skins to add to the shocks by beating the Cowgirls tonight?  tongue

No sane observer could ever have predicted that the only other unbeaten teams after week three (Packers are no surprise) would be the Bills and the Lions, and maybe the Skins too.

Truly astonishing comebacks by the Bills and Lions, a surprise defeat for the Jets (Cat happy!), and Cam Newton showing that he prefers to play in rain.  big_smile

With apologies to Angela (and others), I really have to say that I particularly enjoyed the losses of the Eagles, Pats and Vikings together with the discomfort of their respective QBs, especially McNabb's!  tongue

Sadly, I won't be able to watch live tonight since k/o is 2:30 am here.  sad

Yes Asterhammer, Cat very happy.  If you heard a scream, it was me when McFadden ran for the 70 yd TD  big_smile

Sorry about your Skins.  But you get another shot at Dallas. Hope you will get to see that game.

I should be asleep right now as I have the 49er game on schedule first.  I think they will show that where I am at.

Then it is off to the Biggie for me.  Raiders vs New England.  I hope the lawn crew got the memo I sent them to turn on the sprinklers when they see Wesley Welker open.  Turn them on high blast so he slips and falls.  Then we can sneak in for the interception like Buffalo.  Or maybe we need reversible jerseys so Tom thinks we are one of their receivers.  I am up for some trickery.  I mean, Halloween is coming.

Other than that, this is going to be a toughie.  He's going to pick on our linebackers.  So please football Gods, let Darrin McFadden have a 300 yd game and we will keep the ball out of New England's hands.  And then McFadden will have the all-time record.  Poor guy, I am going to wear him out.  The good news is we can get to their secondary also.   Shaughnessy is questionable.  He has been great this season.  Even if he can play a little that will be helpful.

Curious to see how Steelers and Texans go.  Also Jets and Ravens.

So Happy Sunday everyone  smile

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Mr. Ridiculous (aka Devin Hester) struck again yesterday and stands alone as the all time leader in punts returned for TD's. He also returned a kick off for 73 yards that should have been a TD. The bears blocker ahead of him said he underestimated Hester's speed and blocked the wrong pursuit man...had he went after the last man (the kicker), Hester would have had a kick return for TD too. So far he's been a below average receiver...maybe he should be limited to the return game?

Read this am that ESPN is pulling Hank Jr's intro song for an observation Williams made about our esteemed prez.  The comparison was a bit over the top, but his point was spot on imo.

The intro may be back next week providing Jr. keeps his incoherent babblings to himself. We'll find out next Monday.

I am not a Carolins fan, but Cam torched that defense about the same as he did vs GB. Hester and luck were the only difference. Not exactly a resounding victory at home, everybody that bet on CHI lost their money. If Carolina's defense would show up going forward they might have a better chance against a few good teams. ATL had the same type of non-plussed win at Seattle, Julio Jones with 11 catches and much yardage. Looks like KC may not be the worst team, Vikings need Luck. Actually they need a lot more than that.

Yeah I'm sure it hurts.  I'd like to find a football player that straps on SPIKES instead of ballet slippers.  Out swirling in their tutus...

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Another exciting week of football.

We lost the game to New England.  Our refs suck.  I am sick of New England getting the calls.  Stupid ref turns over the pass interference call without a challenge?  Even with a challenge, it was pass interference and it cost us a touchdown.

At least make them challenge.  You dumb refs do things for New England that you do not do for other teams.  and no. 25 of New England did an unnecessary roughness in front of the ref.  If it was a Raider you couldn't throw the flag soon enough. So when we play New England from now on I want it Big Nasty from the start.. Do it like Tooz would have done it.  Don't let no. 25 come over and push our receiver around and stand by and watch. If ref won't take care of it, then take care of it.

That ain't why we lost, we lost because of poor tackling.  But don't let New England come in and dictate how the game is going to be played anymore.  And don't cheesepuff Tom Brady.  That running game should have been shutdown.  It ain't like the Texans, who you going to face next.  That's a real running team.  We are a real running team.  Now lets work on the holes of our run defense.  Our offense can only do so much.  You can do this Raiders, just work on it game by game.  Luv ya.

Wow Roy, Packer Heaven! If I was a fan I'd be jealous.... but I'm NOT.
Zebs got under the RC's skin.
Our Bolts hung in there. Best start in years, but there is something missing. Only one of our big threat receivers is playing with the rest hurt, so they seem to be running on 7 cylinders. Local fans are scouring the internet to get around the tv blackout. Still noises of a move to LA.  mad
