I have to say.....after listening to what is on Youtube from this cd..........I LOVE LOVE LOVE It!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to get the cd and i certainly hope that Joe and Beth work together again.........LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to check out the vids,. thanks to taper and to folks posting links. very curiopus to see how different some of it sounds live, with a different band and w/out bova.
Greenose I gotta really disagree on a number of points. first no disrespect to this collaboration or to Beth. I am truly blown away by her and am enjoying this work of joe';s and hers.
but i think you are wrong about BCC. don't want to clutter this decent thread with an argument but its worth pointing out a few things. please forgive me allas i always say i want Joe to do what he wants. Greenose in particular has alwasy championed for non-covers so i don't know how he can say what he did without knowing what they could write together - or sperately and do together. I have zero doubt it would be phenomenal but i just have a very high regard for the songs of BCC. this is seperate from the magic of Beth and her with Joe but hugely significant when making these broad statements. Plus I firmly believe you are wrong about the career thing. not that i think the opposite, just that you are wrong.
what would really be tragic IMO is if he did focus on trying to appeal to any fan base (except the rock lovers, JK ) cause that is when you get a little of everything thrown in it seems? I mean this cd I guess is actually more cohesive than some of the solo stuff i think even given what i said in earlier posts. not that there is anything wrong with that, i have always taken it as what Joe wanted to give at that time. I hope it always continues that way.I have learned something though. i had to look up "soul" mnusic and can see better from the real definition that is what this is. i didn't have a distinct definition in mind but didn't realize that is where this would fall. after looking it up it is sensical now. alot for me to explore off that along with more of Beth's other works.
I dunno but yeah back to the cd its great - sounds like the live bit is even greater!!!
Thank you Joe and Beth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
write some rock songs (if you want )i edited this alot but no one had quoted me yet so...
i'll quote you, meow, meow, meow mix.
Love the Joe and Beth collaboration. He is the energizer bunny. It's so wonderful for us fans and the music world that he gives so much of himself.
Greennose, I think Joe has benefited greatly from Glenn Hughes for BCC. Just look at Glenn's songwriting. And I thought it was BCC, not just Glenn by himself. So where are the other 2 going? So it's a partnership just like Beth and Joe. I love both collaborations. Please look into Glenn's career Greenose as he has collaborated with a number of people before Joe because of the music, not to just further his career. And I am with Jane as I like both and don't want to clutter this but please know that Glenn has a lot of fans in his own right and if some of Joe's fans don't care for the collaboration that's expected. But Glenn has had a long and fruitful career with more fruit to pick. In fact being a prog metal girl I will post this Because I absolutely love this song and what Glenn added to it. In fact I would be the guy at 3:40 in the song because of Glenn's vocals. This isn't really for Joe's audience, I just want to show Glenn's versatility and glad he collaborated on this song. Hope you like this song Jane. It's not for everyone, but if you do Jane come aboard ship. It's a rockin ship of us fools, luv this video too.

Count me in. Hope they are planning a world tour.
Hi folks, sorry if my comments have detracted from Joe and Beth, but I do know where Glenn has come from and I have followed his career, I saw him 15 years ago performing to 100 people in a small club. He deserved far better than that and while he has got back some of his due recognition, it is worth stating that the venues he plays on his own tour are the size of the ones Joe played on his Sloe Gin tour. So as far as the gig going public are concerned, Joe is the bigger name. I don't want to detract from him, but simply state that I believe that Joe and Beth have a far greater potential to attract a larger fanbase than BCC. Old school hard rock has a limited audience in the current time, yet Joe and Beth's work trancends many musical boundaries. Trust me, when you play Don't Believe to your respective partners, I bet they tell you that they love it! Yes the album is all recordings of other artists but I see this as a start rather than a single entity. I would just hate to see the opportunity for Joe to work with Beth on a more regular basis be lost. Loving the clips, keep em coming!
that Joe and Beth have a far greater potential
When I saw Beth first some years ago I was writing here that it should be her when Joe would perform with a female singer. Yes, there is a huge potential in both of them and - coming back to BCC which I like, too - obviously sometimes there is more power in a man-woman combination than in a man-man combination.

BCC just played the high voltage. I've seen Glenn play stadiums in the heyday of his career. Yes classic rock has a limited audience now but they are doing new material. I was there when Joe played in the clubs. He's worked hard to get where he is at now. I don't see it as either /or but that is Joe's decision. I see it as both. But you and I see some things differently. I don't care if Glenn plays to 100 people now. It's better for me. I like the smaller intimate venues where you can be up close. Instead of having to look at him thru binoculars. And the clubs are more fun. I like the ambience better. I mean going your route, I would want Joe to be a judge for American Idol. Talk about instant fame and millions of people. For the judges on the show, it's all about promotion of themselves and millions of dollars.
I do understand what you are saying, in that you want them to perform more because you like it better and you see more potential probably for both. I do think there is another level between original songs and cover songs. And it is not just Glenn, there are 2 other people in the band. Joe just did a show with her so hopefully you will see them together. I'm just going to give Glenn his propers as he has earned them through his illustrious career and he ain't stopping.
As a sidenote, Paul Rodgers toured with Queen and sold out big stadiums. But he has done that before. He's older now and decided he likes the smaller venues and lesser tour dates. And when Queen and him want to do something together, they will. He had his main career so now he can call his own shots. He doesn't have to sell out stadiums for me to know he is the best. If he was to play in my living room, I can't even finish this sentence thinking about that........

I have never agreed with you more!
I have followed along and agree with yours and Jane's replies to Greenose defending BCC. They don't need it. And to say Glenn needs Joe more than Joe needs Glenn is offensive actually, not fair to Joe even. Yeah we could say that about Beth Hart too then (apologies Beth-O-Holic, as she doesn't need Joe either-we'll get some to believe it is just they should be playing music together and the recognition of that fact early on was easily discerned as "natural", providential, and blessed with a destiny ). This is just another crossroads of talents and I am glad to be picking up on these hikers who deserve a ride. Let it ride. Don't push anyone out of a fast moving vehicle. Drop them where they want to go even though before where you (think they also should be) headed. A collaboration made good, I am sure this doesn't have to be the end for Beth-Joe (lots of historic blues-soul-bluegrass-jazz-gospel pairings with several recordings featuring those pairings).
As it stands, BCC are a band. Beth & Joe are a collaboration. ALL have other projects. Anyone else check out Oceana by Derek Sherinian yet? Tasty stuff and nice value-added Joe track to boot!
Life is good. Jane, with you on the indeed, very high regard for the songs of Black Country Communion...and Cat's right ON, IMO, it's not either or. Why not both (and more!)?
Rock ON & Keep the Faith,

Jeez, where to begin?
First of all, mega big thanks to Linda for filming and posting (we need to get her to sign up here)!!
I totally agree with this statement of Greenose's - "Old school hard rock has a limited audience in the current time, yet Joe and Beth's work trancends many musical boundaries."
Thanks also to Rocket for finding the 2009 Schoeppingen thread about Beth. My comments from then still stand - for me, anyway - older readers may recall that Schoeppingen 09 is when I 'found' Dana, and that love is still burning brightly, only in very small part because Joe played a number as her 'special guest' the way he does here with Beth, but sadly they never made a cd together.
After watching these new tremendous numbers I am now a fan and will certainly be getting the cd. I'm delighted to see that Beth has (apparently) dropped the ott swearing on stage, though I got a little worried about her wardrobe issues.
I would infinitely rather see more Joe collaboration with Beth than with Glen Hughes, but that's just me. In short, I was a little dubious about this project to begin with, but have been totally won over!
I posted Linda's vids on another forum, where I got the following response -
"Thanks for that. Lol. Two of these you linked to were recorded day before yesterday at the Echo here in LA, probably within walking distance of my house!
Sounds great. Not really familiar with Joe Bonamassa, so I appreciate the intro. "
Sorry guys but I standby what I say. The reality is that Joe is a bigger pull than Glenn audiencewise, and yet Glenn appears to be the driving force behind BCC. Joe and Beth have recorded together because he saw her perform and wanted to record with her. All I'm asking is that Joe makes his own choices in the future as to which aspects of his musical career his concentrates more fully on, and in my opinion I feel it should be the partnership with Beth rather than BCC, which I repeat feel has more music potential. Sorry but that's my viewpoint. Anyway I've said enough, I'm just going to enjoy the music.
Rocket,
No need to apologize. When I found out about the Joe/Beth collaboration I was excited because I was also a fan of Joe and I knew how unbelievably awesome he is. I thought it was a great paring for collaboration. The secondary thought was that I would like to see her more known here in the states and working with Joe would definitely help. (Beth's last 2 albums were not even released in the states.) Beth has her niche market in Europe where she is popular, sells out shows and is a festival headliner. Joe is more well known in more parts of the world.
Years ago when Beth's career in the U.S. was taking off and ramping up, her addiction was also getting out of hand. She makes no secret of that and all the stories that go along with it. After she was in recovery, Beth saw her success in Europe as a second chance and she is really grateful for all the success she's had there. As an American, I of course would love it if she toured the U.S. again. I've made many trips to L.A. and even a couple to Europe to see her. I'd love to see her play within 50 miles of my home. I saw her with Jeff Beck twice in the Bay Area as well as opening act which is how I discovered her back in 2005.
I like everything Joe does - his solo stuff, his BCC stuff and of course I'm biased and obviously love what he did with Beth. I'd like him to keep experimenting and stretching his talent. I'd like him to continue his collaboration with Beth and see them write together, but not at the expense of any of his other projects. It still amazes me how much music he puts out - and that he is already recording another solo album. Man! I think Joe is really confident about his craft and just keeps on going, whereas Beth may second guess herself more and has gone through more ups and downs when it comes to confidence. When he asked her to work on a soul album she assumed she would sing background. I'm sure it was very validating that Joe was like "No I want you to sing lead!" Personally I hope they do more and add a few originals - and more duets. It would be great.
Oh, and Amsterhammer, she definitely has not dropped the swearing... she would not be Beth if she did. You'll have to watch the clips of the Echoplex show on youtube. Once at the San Diego music fest they told her not to swear - well of course she did and immediately clamped her hand over her mouth and her eyes got big as saucers.
Beth-O, you are somebody I hope to be blessed with meeting one day. What a sweet and sweetly succinct post reply! Got me smilin'...and...wishin' and hopin' thinkin' and prayin' and plannin' and dreamin', Ahhhhhh there I go again, the two covering some Dusty Springfield!
I would love to see Beth with Jeff Beck AND Joe Bonamassa and......well those three, whether the stage overflowed with with horns or orchestra even...my mind boggles!
Rock On & Keep The Sweet Faith, I Swear Allowed It Works,
Rocket
I have read through the posts and so many valid opinions.I agree with Greenose that Joe and Beth have a greater commercial appeal. But I don't think that's the main factor with Joe(not that I really know).I think Joe has become very successful being an independent artist. My gut feeling is he makes these decisions on what he really wants to do as a musician rather than a business man.Whatever success comes from it is secondary if HE likes the collaberation. That said you never know what happens if something outside his solo work really blows up big time.I guess time will tell.I will say that I hope he can continue to work with Beth more as well as BCC.He has done it so far,so o reason they both can't continue.Something tells me there may be somone else he will work with as well as time goes on.So how lucky are we!!!!!!!!
....just love this duo...think its just magic... when i heard 'Rather go Blind... was sucked in like a canoe into a whirlpool..last year ended on such a high for me personally with the BCC gig at Shepherds Bush...this year has been hard, probably going to get an awful lot harder pretty soon... a Joe and Beth UK gig at the end of fuzzin 2011 will help balance things out nicely!... fingers crossed!

Dear Santa Claus,
Please, please send Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart to a tour to: Gebläsehalle of Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, Germany on a weekend because of the very special illumination of the industrial park on weekends. Other locations in the Rhein-Ruhr would also be okay. Some blues brothers and sisters are dreaming to see them in the UK and the Netherlands too. 2011 would be fine but 2012 would also be great.
Best regards,
Blues Sissi
If Santa will be flooded with letters, who knows ???
