Topic: My guitar seems to be turning into a JB model!

I don't seem to be able to stop my 1991 LP becoming more and more like a JB model.  hmm

I replaced the wiring and pups with 50's style gear and PAF replicas at Christmas and the speed knobs became reflectors with pointer washers - I toyed with mis matched tophat / reflector combos but resisited.

However after weeks of deliberation I finally decided to try the topwrapping thing convinced I would decide it was complete hocus-pocus.

I wish I could say that it was going to be put back to standard but I am becoming more and more convinced that it is going to stay topwrapped.  Its main benefit for me is that I no longer snag my right hand when playing as the strings now seem to guide my hand into the right spot rather than catching.

My LP is now hanging on the wall with its scratch plate reinstated quitely laughing.  lol  I must resit the temptation to put on two amber tophats...

All you need now is the black plastic, and replace the high 'E' and 'B' bridge saddles with nylon ones and you are laughing!  lol

What about posting a link to a pic?  Would love to see it...

Re: My guitar seems to be turning into a JB model!

Not sure how to post a pic but I might have a try.

My guitar is ebony and I know that Joe has an ebony guitar with black plastics - he played it at Manchester - but I'm not so keen on that look.

I might swap the pickup rings for historic ones though because on the '91 standard they are the lower ones.

I'm already running a Callaham abr which has more balance between wound and unwound strings than the standard bridge which I believe is the thinking behind Joe's nylon saddles.
