Topic: Laney l5t 112 or Fender Blues junior lll fsr

Hi every one, found this Laney amp Lionheart L5T 112 that sound very great for à 5 watt , but if you visit à Fender Blues junior lll , wich one do you think could be The closest of great Joe Bonamassa Blues tone ????

My guess would be the Laney as it is a british voiced amp and Joe mainly plays Marshall voiced amps.

My approach is just to create a good tonefor me from good gear though rather than try and replicate a sound.  You probably wouldn't sound like Joe even if you played his rigg.

I'm going to go ahead and tell you the Blues Jr is a better amp for the money IMHO.  BOth of the amps will use EL-84 and should have a preamp tube 12AX7's  Both are class a so they should sound close to alike.  Class A to me is a british style amp even though america made it.

The Blues Jr. Tweed NOS has an excellent clean sound and looks awesome too. For JB grit, consider a new Marshall Class 5. The C5 had some issues upon it's release, but I'm sure they worked it out. Great amp for the price.

I should think the Laney and the Fender would sound very similar.  If they do, I imagine it would be easier to sell the Fender down the road, if you decide to upgrade...

Can't say enough good things about the Class 5, especially now that you have the option of just buying the head.  If you're interested in putting together a "poor man's Joe B rig," I'm not sure you can do any better for the money...of course, you're going to need TWO of them for that (or one Class 5 and a second amp of some sort)...   wink

To be honest the Class 5 would be my choice but I didn't mention it because I only considered the amps named in the first post.

Class 5 for Joes distortion tone, Blues Jr for the clean articulation and note definition.  If I was stuck with only one I would still go with the Blues Jr.  Why?  Because you can crank this thing up and it will still get pretty darn close to Marshall tone, not to mention it cleans up when you back it off, and last but not least where are you going to take a 5 watt amp that you'll hear it over a decent drummer?  Your looking to have to buy a mic and hope your sound man can get it right.  A 15 watt Blues Jr can at least get you over the drummer in a room, given you'll have no clean head room with the Jr even then.  At least the crowd will hear you.  Better just stick with the 100 watt plexi just in case your drummer trys to start something  tongue
