Yeah Patty. That voice gets to me too and he's easy on the eyes! Silver Fox! Would be shallow to not give him props as a keyboard player! Yummy!!!
Great voice, but I can never understand what he's saying. Am I the only one who has this problem? He recently did a good duet with Jonny Lang on Thankful on Jonny's Turn Around.
Yuk! Hated it when he joined the Doobie Bros while Tom Johnston was gone. His vocals are unique, but not my cup of tea.
He cowrote one of my favorite Robben Ford songs. Nothin to Nobody. Other than that I can live with out him.
Jim I love ya like a brother ... Blink of an Eye.. enough said. He should be in the rock hall for that alone..

Michael is a terrific R&B/Blue Eyed Soul singer, but I got yer back on this one Stu. That was a dark period in the Doob's history, one of my all-time favorite bands.
Think Green,
J Dawg
"Got those highway blues can't you hear my motor runnin'
runnin' down the road with my foot on the floor.".............quite often the opening number, especially with a
biker crowd in attendance.
Didn't he do the song "I Keep Forgettin"? Maybe that's a chick song, but whatever, I absolutely love that song.

Does that mean you disagree with my assesment of Michael? Let me clarify my statement. I like him better as a song writer than a performer. My lovely wife Debbie who listens to easy listening type stuff. Carley Simon, Boz Scaggs and the likes loves Michael's solo stuff. I prefer his contrubutions as a song writer more than a performer. He is one of many snubbed by the Hall of Fame. I say Heart should get in before he does.
Susan, yes keep forgetten was Michael Mcdonald. He has written many more hits collaborating with Carly Simon
on You Belong to Me, Kenny Loggins, on What a fool believes, and Keep Forgetten a collaberation with Lieber and Stoller. A collaberation with a guy like him would surley turn out a classic.
I've never been a huge fan of his but he is obviously talented and has a unique sound. And I agree about Nothing to Nobody. One of my favorites by Robben Ford.
Love his Motown albums !
Jim just listen to " Blink of an Eye" trust me he can deliver live too.. Thanks for the latest Jim Moody Paint Company standard issue baffles. United Airlines lost my JM Baffle over the weekend. Dave and Donnie made a new one out of Home Depot standard issue and clear tape.. so not the same.. If you want a Baffle order Jim's..

Made to the exacting specifications of Joe Bonamassa. Who says and I quote. "They are as much a part of my sound as anything. I don't know what I would do with out it." Joe's tone? It's all in the glass. Plexi that is.
The artist must meet my stringent requirements before I can approve the manufacture of any baffle. He must be worthy of such a precission instrument. I will take referal from a trusted source such as Joe. The most recent baffle went to Greg Martin of the Kentucky Headhunters.
I owe, I owe, It's off to work I go.

Yes, I will never forgive him for blowing up the Doobie Bros.
I hear Michael McDonald on alot of cd's; most recently on Larry Carlton's Fingerprints.

Alaska....wow!
I know I'm off topoic, but are you living there, has Joe ever played there?
Hey Joe,
I'm not sure if you are tuned in to this song for the great vocals or the powerful lyrics...perhaps the combination of both? Awesome song overall and I find songs that capture the feeling of the passage of time, like Blink of an Eye, really powerful. I've always thought you were wise beyond your birth years...a mature soul.
Here are the lyrics for those not familiar.

I was looking around at some lyrics for Father's Day and of all the songs I know of, Harry Chapin's Cats in the Cradle still says it all when it comes to some of the profound aspects of time flying by like a blink of an eye!

I only saw the Doobie Brothers live once and that is when Michael was playing keys. I sat right in front of him, mesmerized by his soulful voice, piano skills and great lyrics. He was in his salt & pepper hair stage then; he was wicked-handsome!! And Brett, I think I have you to thank for recommending Michael's Motown stuff...I think you had it on a favorite list before and I bought it based on that! Michael is an incredibly talented guy!
