Topic: Guitar amp attenuator: Rivera Rock Crusher

I just got one of these for my super-loud 100 watt Rivera knucklehead.

I haven't had much time to set it all up yet, so the jury is still out on if I like it or not. BUT I will say it does what it says it does.
With it at the maximum setting, I can have my amp's master volume on 10 and and still be able to talk loudly over the sound. There's a bunch of DB reduction settings to set just how quiet you want it.

With the amp on 10 and the attenuator up almost all the way, it seemed feedbacky. Although I was standing right next to the amp. Just need to test it more. I also noticed with it maxed, it was hard to get a 'boost' to make it a bit louder.

Re: Guitar amp attenuator: Rivera Rock Crusher

A boost won't make it louder when using an attenuator only make it sound more broken up if you have the drive up on the pedal. The attenuator is doing its job by limiting the max output volume.
One way I've found to get the desired effect you are looking for is to set the guitar volume, amp & attenuator to where you want your leads to sound. Then roll back guitar volume for slightly dirty. The Rivera should have lots if headroom so it should be very responsible to getting clean tones from picking lightly.
